Salut le monde!

I travel from the south shore to Granby to go to work every day, and the last snowstorm was really something to remember. So, just to have a conversation, what are the winter tires you use and how did they handle the snow?

I have Yokohama's F720, and they are crap at low speed in the snow, but absolutely fantastic on icy roads.

If anyone has Nokia's, tell us how they are, please.

Seasons Greetings everyone.

Joyeux Nol et Bonne et heureuse anne tous.

Snow?

Please excuse my ignorance Micah, but do you get a lot of snow where you live in the winter?

Here we got 2 feet on monday the 15th, rain 2 days later and then 6 more inches of snow right after the rain. Roads were a mess, cars in the ditches all over, ice patches that made the car jump all over the place...man I love Quebec in the winter.

I especially don't have a place in my heart for the UNION people who simply did not do their job clearing the roads as pressure tactics.

Hey Red Baron, I got Toyo on my ride...

They are awesome in the snow, even when I went to Montreal Tuesday morning, but they are only "good" on the ice.

Well, as long as you don't drive like a fool, everything's fine. And I have tested them for a little rallye race in the snow; I have to say that they STICK to the road.

If you wanna test them Red Baron, let me know... It'll be a pleasure to see each other again!

CHEERS!:D

BTW, Happy Holidays to everyone... I am leaving tomorrow morning for the Abitibi, lots of snow over there... But my father's truck gonna be able to handle all that white Sh**!!!

TAKE KARE DURING THOSE 2 NEXT WEEKS!

I've got Pirelli Icesports on my 2002 LX. They are tremendous on ice, slush and hard-packed snow. They grip the road very well.

I've driven here for nearly 14 years, but the condition of the roads in and around Montreal were the WORST I have ever seen them this past week. Aside from the ice storm of 1998 that is... And I'm talking about the roads days after the snow fell. It was so bad in some spots that the only guarantee of "slide-free" transport would be if you attached chains and spikes to your wheels! If this is a sign of things to come this winter, we are indeed screwed.

Thanks PHATMartz, I'll take your words for it.

Happy Hollidays to you and yours.

I bought a set of Yokohama AVS Winter and i'm very happy so far. I obviously have problems on ice and slush/wet snow, but they're the best when its time to drive through or get out of a snow bank (parking purposes). I did not get stuck once, and that includes the time when i drove through an uncleaned part of the parking lot at work, with ~8" of snow, they had pretty good grip.

They were also pretty good wednesday night last week, i was driving on the 13 at ~2am during the other snow storm and i was surprised

On the other hand ... i've driven my parent's car with Michelin Alpin (which are supposed to be good tires) and i was scared for my life.

i've also heard good things about studded tires =)

a friend of mine bought a set for his wrx ... he's havin so much fun. maybe you should take a look =)

PhatMartz, where in abitibi did you go? I headed up to Rouyn-Noranda for the holidays, the highways were pretty nice though.

OttawaP5:

I went to Senneterre, it is close to Val d'Or... The Verendrye Park was nice though, but the rest of the roads were all icy. It went good, took us only 6 hours, that is habitually 5 hours during summer, without stoppin'.

The roads were way better on the 29th when we came back in the Laurentides.

HAPPY NEW YEAR Everyone...

In the summer it is amazing how fast you can go in la verendrye park, the highways are so wide and there's no cops in sight! Do you go fast through there in the summer?
