Bad Smoke lives on !!!
OK....

I finally have been able to connect the dots and figure out how to get my car to emit a MAJOR amounts of smoke....I would suggest that everyone try this before your warranty expires to make sure your engine/turbo is acting properly.

Follow these Steps:

1) Drive your car for 5 miles or so, then come home and park it for 30 minutes

2) Start up your car and let it idle for 5 - 10 minutes before you drive

3) Drive away as you normally would and look in your mirror for signs of smoke

Repeat this test several times to ensure that no oil is leaking by your turbo seals, my cars smokes like a PIG like you wouldn't believe unless you saw it with your own eyes.(omg)

POST results here......I need to know if I have the 1 in a 1000 lemon or the 1 every 100 problems....I would like to think the problem is isolated to less than 5 % of production

My old Toyota turbo supra(92), had bad seals. Drive it till warm, park for 30 min, re start and watch the smoke billow out. The 30 min gave the oil time to seep through leaking seals. Then re start burned it right away.

This is exactly what mine does - can't wait to get rid of it in Dec. It happened this afternoon - in a busy parking lot - ppl thought there was a fire.

I think turbo is a part of the power train and has extended warranty, not 36 months and 36k miles. Am I right?

I think it should be part of the engine waraanty but, I don't know if it is excluded. Where is my owners manual and what does it say?

Post pictures of the smoke if you can please. I'm curious to see what a real smoking one looks like.

mine did again today, started car up in garage, went inside to let the dog out, came back 5 min later, pulled out of driveway, laughed at by neighbors as my car looked like a smokestack at a power plant

WOW!! And I thought I was the only one that had this problem....Its in the shop right now getting a new turbo...Did they update these seals on the newer turbo's? Does anyone have this TSB??? PLEASE??

Turbo in shop now....

Happy to report that the dealer was finally able to replicate the problem with my smoking turbo after 4 tries in 2.5 yrs of ownership. The car was in for water intrusion in the headlights and I told them to please check for the smoking turbo condition. Now all the maintenance records have been submitted and we are awaiting the final approval from MAZDA.....I also came upon a TSB for the CX7 pertaining to insects getting into the rear combo tail lens assembly, mine has had a spider in it since May 07 and it drives me batty.....Also a concern is the ability to push in the fenders by hand at the base of the "A" pillars on either side of the car, it appears there is a TSB for that as well which I have submitted to the dealer for repair too.

I will be happy just to get the Turbo issue resolved at this point, but I must say I have NEVER had SO many issues with a new vehicle as I have had with this one. In the past 10 yrs I have owned 5 new cars and nothing came close...shame too as I really enjoy the drive

Turbo Replacement Approved

In the shop and taking care of ALL the issues, I requested that only a "Master Technician" perform the work associated with the turbo replacement. Hopefully there will be no additional issues resulting from the transplant...shockingly they have promised to have the car ready within 27 hrs despite the fact that they are awaiting delivery of the turbo unit via UPS which will not get there till tomorrow morning.

I have this problem with mine. Where did you find the TSB? TIA
