The senario I proposed was someone looks foward and sees the car in front of them's brake lights on, but since they are tinted and not as bright as normal brake lights, they don't realize right away the car ahead is braking, then they look down to change the radio, in those few seconds their car could travel a long way and when they look back up it's to late.

I got rear-ended in my old car by someone who looked down for a split second and didn't see me slam on my brakes because the car in front of me did. Well I got hit so hard it knocked my car into the one in front of me. So if that could happen with untinted taillights, I think it could be even more prone to happen with tinted ones.

And you don't need to call people retarded, it doesn't reflect well on yourself.
