Just wondering if anyone has done or attempted a 16g in an msp. I was thinking about purchasing a t28 but ive just learned today that another friend is selling his small 16g for a lot less and its in really good condition.

If you went with a Mitsu/Garret T3 foot plate adapter, the limmits with turbos are endless. To just settle for the 16g would not be worth the trouble.

I hope you have a really really deep pocketbook to pay for the motor build and fuel system to support anything much bigger than a 16g.

On topic... the t28 is a better option, since it should bolt the flange on our manifold. A td04-16dg has a different flange, and would require a new manifold.

Thank you for the input so far guys! I would stil like to hear somemore but kyracefan I appreciate it. Hows the safc2 thing going b/c with a different turbo i would much rather use an afc than a 800$ piggyback. The t28 is 500 and the 16g is 200. So if the 16g is going to cost me more than the t28 in the long run ill probably end up going with the t28; in which i found a nissan compressor housing from a friend,(imagine that he has like 3).

it is possible to change out the internals in your t25 to t28 internals might think about that if you can find someone who will do it for cheep

a 16g will need a new manifold/down pipe fitting, it'll end up costing you more. just make sure you have more fuel properly tuned either way you go

I'm not really sure at this point on what I want to do. I am starting the process today of putting in hardpipes, boost guage, mbc, tt, ported s-pipe, plugs, and a few other little things. going to switch tranny fluid and switch to synthetic. Hopefully everything goes well with all of this. I will be with out my car for like a week or so; not happy at all!! Probably end up going with the 16g with a custom manifold. looked at both turbos last night and the 16g is in perfect shape, the t28 has a little to much shaft play for my liking.

why upgrade your turbo, untill you have passed its efficency??

I am really surprised at the power people are making with the stock turbo, i guess it is a lot better then some think.

not to menion the little to no lag the stock turbo has.

I agree, Your opening a new can of worms in the problems section if you do this swap. The car needs help from factory to get it to run right. The T25 is a good compressor, it will take you alot of modding to max it out. Save your cash for EMS, and a clutch, and do it right.

Werd. There's nothing wrong with the stock turbo, so why change it? Instead, change the things that ARE wrong. Mainly engine control.

The only reason for swaping out the turbo is because of the condition its turning into. We looked at it the other day and the turbo is not going to last a whole lot longer especially under higher boost! Instead of buying the same turbo it would be wiser to buy what i want now instead of buying another t25 then buying a 16g or t28. I am not going to just swap turbos and call it good. the benefits is i have a daily driver and if my car is all apart for a few months while waiting on parts and upgrades or what not, i really dont have a problem. so if you can kind of see where i am coming from. btw is anyone running a haltech that likes it a lot and would suggest it?

What is it that is causing damage to the stock turbo? Kinda scary if you're not modded, and the turbo's about to let go...!

Alex

even if you are replacing the turbo, get it replaced under warranty and then sell it to recoupe some of the cost.

i think the hiboost kit comes with haltech, so any one of them should be able to tell you the pluses and minuses. from what i hear it's a good unit, just get the one that controls timing and fuel (e6x i think)

doesnt the 16g have a reversed rotaion??? i think it would be a big headache to swap into that
