Let's say you have broken side and rear mounts now. By adding our front mount in this case will help prevent furture damage. Our mount will have a greater strain put on it due to the rear and side being broken already.

i should have picked ups No, UPS would have been a horrible choice. From SLC to DC would take about a week vs the 2-3 day that USPS is anywhere in the 48 states.
My mount arrived today so Rob, your mount definitely should too. Check your tracking, mine actually said that it had arrived at a Rochester post office this morning at 5am. I was crossing my fingers that the post office wasn't closed on this pseudo-holiday.. and it worked

One question for you though Eric.. for the side mount, do I need to worry about the bent bracket piece rusting? Should I give it some flat black paint or something? Also I'm sure I'll figure this out when I get out there, but should I do somethin with washers or lock washers on the two bolts that hold the mount to the frame? I know there's a few smaller washers on that big bolt, are they just there for storage purposes during shipping or do I leave all of them on (obviously with the mount between the two large ones) to space the metal bracket from the mount?

i spent a good hour and a half tryin to get the stock nuts/bolts off my front mount. made me wanna do something irrational. i felt like... like... wuts something really irrational...? oh i got it... a woman

I'm chillin (literally, is' in the 20s and I'm sitting out on my back deck with my laptop because the natural gas leak (was the connection between the gas lines and the stove) needs to be ventilated for a while.
I have less vibrations now that I installed the side mount than I did before.. my stock side mount was torn though so I expected that.

i'm experiencing a little more vibration. when i pulled out my stock mount, i put just a lil pressure on it, and the center just popped out

Also, the passenger side one, is the vertical bar inserted into a matching rectangular hole in the horizontal bar and then the two pieces welded together (top and bottom of the horizontal bar, so two rectangular welds), or is the vertical one placed on top of the horizontal one and then welded on (just on top of the horizontal bar, one rectangular weld)? How thick are those metal bars, and are they aluminum or steel? Lastly, is the rubber mount bushing rebuild kit on your site for these Mazda mounts, or for some other motor mount?
You know, I've always wondered if it would really do that. The argument has been that if you have one stiff mount, then the engine motion will pivot on that mount and place more stress on the others. But I can't see how it would increase the forces on the other mounts, because without the stiff mount, the engine would likely move even more in all directions, meaning more force on the other mounts. So I can see where he's coming from when he says that having the new front mount will help protect the others. I don't know, maybe there are some factors I'm not thinking about.amsgator said:
The way the mounts are set up, the front mount kinda is just there to reduce the twisting of the engine, as is the rear mount. The front mount (maybe the rear too, not sure though) isn't even load bearing when the car is off and level. It isn't there to support the weight of the engine, just to reduce the motion. Hence why adding just the front mount really doesn't increase vibrations at all, but it does reduce motion significantly.
If the way my car is with the two available SLS Performance motor mounts is any indication, I can't wait for the rest to hopefully eventually come out.
