slow my car down

Probably not a popular question, but for various reasons I need to slow my car down temporarily. I saw a thread about disconnecting the boost control module. Are there any negative side effects for doing this besides limiting boost to ~10psi? Is this the correct place to do it?

previous post
"the boost control solenoid has a 2 pin connector (easy to disconnect), and 2 hoses. One hose is connected to the wastegate actuator and the other is connected to the plastic intake pipe"

Is it that simple? Just unplug a connector? Any idea on how much power will be taken away?

Thanks for your help,
Mark

kinda wondering the same thing... slower??? you're in Texas, aren't there lots of open roads to have fun on?

counldn't you just adjust your wastegate to let out boost sooner so as you spool up you dont get the same as normal?

Got me curious now too. I guess I dont get why someone would need/want to detune their car to make it slower. Usually when I want to slow my car down temporarily I hit the breaks or let off the gas.

Are you planning to loan it to someone? I'm curious as well. Usually a lighter foot on the loud pedal does the trick.

Oh wait I forgot the Dashhawk's valet mode is just for logging. There are certain devices which can limit boost and lower the rev limiter and whatnot. I was mistaken here.

Yes, the main reason is because we are having some guests in town for a few days and they will be driving it. Another reason is because I keep catching myself over 100mph and I'm afraid I'm going to get a ticket.

I guess I'm going to try and find the connector when I get home. This is obviously not a popular mod!

I guess it depends on how much you trust the guests, it is a very easy car to speed in, you hardly even notice your doing 100mph. You could mention to your guests about the speed and tell them it does log what they do so you will know, they may call your bluff who knows. I dont think its ever a popular mod to slow your car down but I can see in this situation why youd want to.

If you DONK it it should be a good bit slower.

Honestly, if you're having trouble keeping yourself from going 100mph, then use the cruise control. As for advice on temporarily slowing your car, I have no idea.

I just called my dealer pretending to be you and they have a solution to slow down my car. I bring the MS3 to them, they take it, then sell me a Mazda3. That should slow things down considerably.

Smoke a bunch of dope every time you drive...

You'll be so paranoid you'll be driving 20 mph below the speed limit...You'll also find that complete stops and using your turn signal are necessary to ward of the evil, ever watching eye of the law and that 7-11 has the best taquitos evar!!!

Winnar!! LOL

Don't forget about the Polar Pops at Circle K!!!

You could:
Get them a rental
Tell them that you have a data logger, bluff
Tell them it was recently worked on and that you were advised to keep it under 70 for the parts to break in

Under the steering wheel you will see three pedals. The one on the left is the "clutch". This is used to "shift" from gear to gear. The one in the middle and the one on the right are used to regulate the velocity of the vehicle. Through careful regulation of pressure on the right most pedal, one can achieve the desired speed. The middle pedal, or "brake", is used to reduce the velocity of the car more rapidly if needed.

good luck!

ok on a serious note...
can't you just ask them to drive responsibly? if they are not the type of people to respect your s*** then i say don't let em near your s***...
