Slight rattle on start up

So for the last few days now, Ive noticed that my ms3 has a rattle for a few seconds on initial start up. I purchased an 06 ms6 with the same prob before this car. Its nearing 60k miles. What is it causing this, how hard is it to fix, and what are we talking price wise? Is it dangerous to keep driving it like this? Note it is my only car and DD driving 60+ miles a day or more expressway. Input is appreciated, thanks!

Get a buddy, jack the car up, have your buddy start the car while you are underneath looking for the location of the sound

Other than that, maybe you're hearing the noisy lsd? I guess worst case is there might be a little piston slap going on until it heats up and therefore expands to fill the cylinder so you no longer hear it.

But it could be any number of things. Maybe your heat shield is getting loose, maybe some other bolt somewhere is loose, don't know

I don't hear this in my car (yet) so I can't say for sure

get a second person to start the car while you listen with the hood up

localize the sound to a specific area

there is a tsb out for the vvt bolt which roughly matches your description

YUP VVT bolt seems to me like it's the problem ESPECIALLY when you say it's at start up...4.2 hour job at the dealer under VVT TSB.

VVT solenoid, yeah. I was at the dealer the other day and this came up in conversation. Warranty?
