The secret, warrantless wiretaps weren't even necessary! The way the laws are set up, the NSA can eavesdrop on US citizens on domestic soil for up to 72 hours without a warrant in an emergency situation. They have to 'apply' for a warrant before the 3 days are up.

The procedures are already there to obtain warrants for wiretaps. If those being tapped had known ties to terrorist organizations, there would have been no problem getting a warrant from a federal court authorizing those wiretaps. So why be sneaky about it? Why undermine the Constitution by authorizing illegal wiretaps??

You mean my freedom of being able to communicate with Al-Qaeda members overseas in complete privacy ? I don't mind if they take that freedom away from me. Talking to terrorists on the phone in privacy was never a freedom I exercised anyways, so I could care less if they take it away.
