Not sure of the part number but the sirius receiver kit runs about $305 from the dealer. To get the part number check with Jason at www.onlinemazdaparts.com...... he'll take good care of you. Also you can occasionally find the kit on ebay for around $150 so make sure to look around some.

Installing..... it depends on whether or not you want to follow mazda's directions or not. They have the receiver installed behind the paneling in the trunk/hatch area so you have to run wires all the way to the front of the car. Depending on how you want to install it you could put the receiver in the glove compt. and then just have to run the antenna. Many people have put the antenna on the dash (either in the center or to one side) and don't have any problems with reception.

I paid for Sirius, but it wasn't installed when I picked up the car...they made some excuses about part availability and as soon as they had all the parts, they would install it.
Its taken 3 weeks, but now they're ready to install it. I'm scheduled to go in Monday. I'll see what kind of info (part numbers) I get then and I'll post them here.

By adding the Sirus reciever...you'll lose the "aux" capability. There is a splitter that you can by from the dealer but not sure of the part# or the cost.

install should take 1-2 hours... and most of that is deciding where to put the antenna and all the wires. I opted to mount it inside (now I wish I hadn't), up in front of the dash. i now know that I have an issue when travelling west and getting reception (bad satellite angles here in AZ). I would do this...
1. Open and remove the glove box
2. Remove the dash trim (on three clips and one "locating" clip) by pulling from the radio side straight out and minding the clip towards the pass door that locates a hole along the length of the trim.
3. Remove the 2 screws behind the trim holding the radio in place.
4. Minding the trim around the vents on top, slide the radio straight out. The clips that align the radio are sensitive and must be undone by pulling in a linear method. You may have to apply some pressure to the trim above the screen to allow it to remove easily.
5. Locate the plastic clip that look identical to the one on the giant Sirius cable.
6. Remove the one in the radio and replace it with the one on the cable.
7. Locate the antenna line and interrupt it with the Sirius antenna supplied.
8. DECIDE ON WHERE TO RUN THE LINES... The easiest place to mount is in the back of the glovebox. Then you can pop out the little light at the back and run the cables into it.
9. Lay out the antenna line and decide where to mount. The best place to run it is along the door sills and out the back hatch. You may need an antenna extension to do this with the box mounted in the glovebox.
10. The weatherstripping along the hatch can accept the antenna wire underneath it... but be very careful replacing it because the metal flange will cut the wire and you are in need of a new one.

This may not be the best way to do it, but at least you know how to get somewhere with it. The hardest part is just figuring out how to run the antenna and hide the wires.

was this an aftermarket sirius radio? I have a 3 sedan and don't want the atenna on the trunk..I live in AZ too and I am trying to find a good place for the antenna. Circut city sugested the dash too. I'm not sold on the reception, esp. after your post. I might opt. for the dealer install..like to know where that atenna goes??
