Siruis Radio deal

yes, it does let you turn off the aux inputs (dvd/tv/game/aux) but no mention or access to "sirius" or any way to tune in 184
thanks though

dude, did u plug the other end of the wire to the correct outlet on the sirius reciever box?
the one that is opposite of the antenna plug is the one that goes to the Head unit.
the other plug is for CD changer.

My sirius tuner has been sitting on my desk for a bit now...so in re-reading this thread, it was never resolved whether or not the car was pre-wired for the setup. I had heard there was a plug in the trunk for it, but I couldn't find it after a brief search. Also...how many people got a free installation certificate? Did it come in the ups package, or inside the tuner package itself? Thank ya.

I got the certificate, and the installer said the car was pre-wired. Of course, this was in August of '03. Edit: Oh, the certificate was in the ups pkg.

i didn't notice any pre-wiring, but it's really easy to install. i put mine on the roof, and the biggest pain was getting the wire in the rubber seal around the rear window.

other than that, take out head unit, take out glove box, plug in sirius wire to back of head unit, run wire to wherever you want to mount your receiver, run the other wire for the antenna to the rear, put your antenna wherever, and voila, done. if i put my antenna on the rear deck (which i wouldve if i didn't have a black car, i dont think it looks as bad on black as it would on another color) it wouldve taken probably 30 mins total, if that.

for running the wires, i just ran mine from the head unit across the back of the glove box and down to the door sill to under the passenger seat, which is where i put my receiver. i put the receiver under the passenger seat, there was kinda a dip and cut carpet under the vent under the passenger seat so i wedged mine in there under the vent. then the wire going to the back i just ran under the rear door sill, up under the plastic around the trunk behind the seat (easy way, just tucked it under), then under the side panel on the trunk and up. it's really simple, i wouldn't even want someone else to install it for me

there is no plug in the trunk, not on 03, not on 03.5.
by "pre-wired" the installer meant that the car was serious ready.....meaning headunit.

How did you get it through the seal? I really didn't want to put it on the roof, but I've put the antenna in 3 different places so far, and I'm not getting a good signal. It keeps cutting in and out every few seconds. Could it just be the weather? It's been cloudy/overcast here since I installed it.

my antenna is mounter on the plastic piece on the rear panel.
i have double limo tint.
it only cut out once, when i passed under a bridge 6 lanes each direction.

for now mine is just run up the rear panel near the back corner in the trunk, then it goes over the trunk right there and up to the rear window. def. not really clean but it's out of the way and don't really notice it. there's probably a better way to do it but i was getting cold when i was installing it, i couldn't think of another easy way to get it there though other than drilling a hole, but i'll poke around with it more when it warms up

Okay, I give up. I'm putting this thing on my roof...To those of you that have it this way, are you going between the glass and the rubber seal, or between the roof itself and the rubber seal? What did you use to pry it open? I (gently) used a screwdriver between the roof and the rubber seal, and it didn't really budge. What do I do??

i used a screw driver between the roof and the rubber seal, it worked just fine for me. once you get the first little bit up and get the wire under it goes way easier cause you can just kinda feed the wire in along the edge. the corner was the hardest part because it's not rounded. if you use a screw driver just be careful, from my poking of the wire down there near the corner (because i couldn't get it to sit right) i stripped a little of the shielding on the wire so i had to put electrical tape over it. also obviously be careful of the paint, screw drivers and paint don't get along

it might be easier to start from the bottom actually, since you can see the actual edge of the rubber seal down there

Hmmmm...well I'm wishing I got that installation certificate right about now. Free installation is cool.

OK, update on the Sirius offer folks. Interesting story.

At the end of last year I had called Amercian Satellite to get my free equipment. I was all amped that they gave me the thumbs up until the point where they asked me where I wanted it shipped. Turns out Hawaii doesn't even get hardly any kind of reception whatsoever. My plans where spoiled until I got the keen idea to get everything sent to my parents house in LA. So alas, they put me on the waiting list and I figure I would just wait till it arrives back home. Turns out they called my Dad and left a message in the beginning of Feb. stating that it was back in stock, ready to be shipped. I didn't get the message up until recently so I call them up today and see if I could get my free stuff. Low and behold, my order was canceled because they couldn't get in touch with me...would have been nice to know. Anyways, they claim the Sirius offer for the MSP is no longer valid. I tried to ask them when the exact date the offer stopped but they couldn't give me an answer. After some bickering with a manager I finally convinced them, under the circumstances, to get me my damn free equip.

Anyone else who still wants their free antenna, tuner, etc. sorry but you might now be S.O.L. (bang)
