Sirius Satellite

When I purchased my Mazdaspeed6, the dealer did not have a car with Sirius from the factory. They ordered a unit that they will install this friday. Does anyone have installation instructions? Also do you know where they install the antenna when it is factory installed. Thanks.

I've seen two mount locations: roof right in the center along the rear window, and the front of the trunklid bordering the rear window. I'm not familiar with the '06+ stereo as I am with the 03-05 that I have. It was a piece of cake putting it into my '04. I'm sure if it is a factory component, it is pretty easy to install as it is most likely a modular unit. Check around the 6 forums for dash tear down instructions. I'm sure you could do it yourself!

You can keep the ant inside the car, next to either back window or front windshield and you won't degrade the reception. That's what I did with mine. I wanted it to look cleaner and having it outside did not look good at all... but that's my opinion.

I agree, it doesnt look too good being out on the roof or on the trunk. I am going to ask for the dealer to install the antenna on the rear window. I think thats the best spot. Chicagokid, you got XM vs. Sirius? How did you get that to work with the stock HU. I actually like Sirius personally, I have XM in my Acura and I dont like it as much as my other car with Sirius.

Mine came pre-installed from the factory on the trunk lid, but I definitely like the idea about putting it inside the car.

I have XM hooked up on AudioLink (from RPM). I had XM on my last 2 cars and I stayed with XM b/c I know most of the channels.
However... Sirius has nicer, more features than XM portables. I might just give Sirius a try.

I just got my car back from the dealer for the Siruis radio, sounds pretty good. They wouldnt install the antenna inside the car for me, they said it will not get enough signal. The display on the Mazda doesnt give you enough information in regards the programming. Not the best but a lot better than having satellite radio, I really enjoy both XM and Sirius.

:bs: They don't know jack!!!! I've had my sat ant inside my last 2 cars and the reception is strong.
It has a clear path through the window!!!
I installed the ant in the front, b/c back window is tinted.

Thats good to know, I will go to a local shop to have it moved inside. I dont like the way it looks outside and the way the wire runs near the trunk hinge, I am sure it will get cut one day. The only reason I had the dealer install it was because it would be under warantee that way. Even on the trunk, the recption isn't awesome, my acura and bmw loose their signals a lot less often then the Mazda. I am anxiously waiting on the ipod accessory, dealer promised to install it when it becomes available for about 1/2 hour labor @ 92 per.
