Simple Q on P5 radio

Just want to know if stock P5 Cd player read CD-RW?

Also, does the player fits on other car, like on a Camry?

answer to first question... yes it does... haven't had a problem with it yet.

I am suprised it will read CD RW's but if you can set them up to be like any other CD then I guess they should.


There is no maounting bracket on the side for a swap to a camary but they are close to the same size. Ofcoase the wiring harness won't line up and the radi is proabably a bit to large.

well. .to answer that question. . .no it doesn't fit in my dad's 94 camry. . i took the brackets from the stock toyota radio and mouted in the changer and then put in it's place in the camry's dash. . but there is a lip on the top of the radio that does not let the radio fit all the way inside the dash opening. . so it will not be flush. . you could "make" it fit by trimming off some of the dash surround that attaches to the ciggarette lighter but my dad said not to do that and i just kinda have a 6disc lying around

That's great! I never even bothered to try a CD-RW in the stock unit because I just figured it wouldn't work. After seeing this thread I tried it and works.

I'm a new member, but I've been getting a lot of info from this forum for the last few months. Thanks 1st MP3 and Sir Nuke for the threads on installing an amp with the stock head unit -- I got everything I needed to know from you guys, and my installation went very smoothly and sounds great.

Now I know I can play CD-RWs on my stock head unit, which was one of the features I thought I'd need a new head unit for. So I just got more help from the board.

Sorry if I'm off topic, just wanted to say "thanks" to everyone for all the info I've gotten from the forum...
