Silverado SS

the lightning doesnt have a high tow capacity like some big diesel beast, but it'll tow a boat, and you can load the bed up. More or less what a regular F150 can do. And the SRT-10 looks like it can do about the same. Now back in the day with the GMC Cyclone, that thing couldnt hold anything, but none the less it was still bad ass.

Yep, what people don't understand is that these high performance trucks seriously limit their hauling/towing capabilities due to the the low profile tires on them. 18"+ rims on a truck kill it's load weight rating. If you switched out the rims and tires you could probably tow with the best of them.

My truck will easily tow 16,000lbs. and simultaneously carry a 3/4 ton payload in the bed. Unloaded it will outaccelerate just about any sports car on the highway and I still get close to 20MPG. With a little tuning it can easily run 12's on Diesel Fuel.

I agree that trucks like the Lightning, SS, and SRT-10 have very little practical use, but there are many better truck options out there.

Holy s***... That's a heavy ass trailer.

My truck is rated at something like 4,000lbs... Damn your Mega-torque diesel! lol. I'm supposed to talk with a guy at the Dodge dealership this weekend. They have great deals right now on the 03's, and I'm looking pretty hard at a regular cab 4X2 with either the 4.7L or 5.9L.

Here's what a 1000 ft/lbs or torque looks like. :) Well, minus the crappy video quality of course... I need to find my other video of that same truck running a 12.8 1/4 mile... LOL

So I take it you finally got the chip to remove that pesky speed limiter? :)

Yeah, I finally got off my ass and installed the damn thing. It only took about thirty minutes, and 25 of that was digging the glue out of the port on the ECU so that I could plug the chip in. It made one hell of a difference though. Low and Mid-range power is a lot smoother, and of course the Limiter is nowhere to be found.... 115mph came really easy on my empty interstate test run. :)
