i have not long bought the car, so i am unsure what mods the person before did.

its towards the back right of the engine, i have a brace bar and it sits just under that.

it looks like a silver horn

you know!!! that thing, by the other thing... but its smaller than that other thingie... oh, and silver too...

:D

I would say it's an aftermarket blow-off/bypass valve, but that's not where it's usually located. Maybe it's just a horn after all? Any difference in performance?

Hmmm. Yeah it could be a blow off valve but its in a weird spot then. Take a picture. Even a bad picture will help.

How well can you draw in MSPaint? (lol2)

yea, that's an aftermarket blow off valve that is mounted to the stock plastic piping... very ghetto. I would buy aftermarket hardpipes(metal) asap, cause that is not going to work.

Yep, that's a BOV if I've seen one; From the factory, I beleive they're glued/epoxied in, so you could try epoxying it back in, or, if there's enough of a lip (Which I don't think there is, actually), you could clamp it down with a hose clamp. Guess the way it's working now makes it more of a pop off valve, huh? =)

Sorry, bad joke. ;)

Well it looks like a BOV... Kinda... But mounted on the plastic pipes? Never seen that b4. If it is a BOV, then it should be mounted on a hard pipe at least. Is it just the horn that pops off of the BOV (if that is what it is) body, or does the whole thing come off of the plastic lower IC pipe? And one other thing, If that is what it is, and u r not the only owner, then u should go to ur local pro-shop, or a friend that knows cars, and let them look over the whole car!!! Cause that looks like a half ass hack job to me, and there is no telling what other boo boos the car is hiding that may become a problem in the future.

From the factory? U sure? cause I never seen a msp with a setup like that until now!

If that goes into that plastic pipe whoever did that should have there head examined

The stock BOV is a Bosch style push-in valve, just like many Volvo's, Saab's, VW's, and so on use... This is just a standard replacement for that style, is all. =) Typically, the other manufacturers attach them with clamps in some way, though; The MSP just has it glued in, which seems kinda wrong to me.

DaKid: Pardon me, that was my fault. I fragmented the sentence, and it made it sort of confusing. =) What I meant to say was, in synopsis 'That's definitly a blow off valve' and 'From the factory, the bypass valve is glued/epoxied in'. Hope that clarifies what I stated. Hehe.
