The stay comes with the new mount, and yes, I would make sure and have it - otherwise the movement of the engine might tear the bottom mount bolts outta the frame.

I emailed jason at montgomery mazda and the stay does not come with the mount. Its like 3 bucks extra

iv noticed my shifter moves a lot do i need this mount? where can i buy it at?

What year protege do you have and how many miles? 3 of the 4 stock mounts are known to tear/break unless you use inserts, fill them with some type of sealant or upgrade to solid mounts. Your shifter may be moving becuz of torn engine mounts. I would just inspect them or remove them for closer inspection

Usually the front and rear mounts are what cause the shifter to move. On most fwd cars the front and rear take most of the stress from engine torque. My shifter used to move up and down untill I put front and rear mideival mounts. Now the dash vibrates a little, not that much.
