Hey guys, i've got a 95 pro LX....now what i wanna know is: how do i take off the side molding? (that black plastic strip about halfway down the outside of the doors). I want to take them off, but i'm afraid it's going to look worse than with them on.

Thanks! (cabpatch)

heat gun/hair dryer, and very slowly....

then use some goo gone or something to get the excess glue off of there....

is it suppost to fall off by itself...or do i need like a slim-jim to ease it off while i heat it?

what happens if i don't go SLOWLY....could i do some permanent damage?

if you dont go slowly, it will leave more of the glue stuck to the door and be more difficult to remove. Use a plastic scraper or something similar to remove the gunk w/o scratching the paint....

Use the heat gun/hair dryer and alot of adhesive remover spraying, then heating and prying back the plastic. Use something made of hard plastic so it doesnt scratch the paint underneath to remove any stuff left over.

Not going slowly will only leave more glue left on the door, and more stuff to scrape off.... increasing the chances for the paint to be scratched... Heat really helps more than most realize...

we pulled the stock i-vetc stickers off of my friends 02 SI hatch. It took us maybe 20 mins of heating up the corner and pulling slowly.... everyonce in a while we would stop to blast it with some adhesive remover (and b/c it would get really hot for our hands to touch)

either there or home depot... most places have it.... we got some generic spray adhesive remover from O'Reileys... seemed to work well.

The goo gone was more for the final clean up to get anything left on the clear coat.

so goo-gone is for the final cleanup....and during the process i use "generic spray adhesive remover from o'reileys? (or any other generic stuff)

exactly.

Just use the heat gun to get the end peeled upward a bit and then shoot the remover down in there to help soften the glue. From there heat and pull... this is the part that takes a while. When it gets a bit too hot for your hands, stop to let them cool and spray down the glue. If you pull to quick, the glue will want to seperate and stick to the clearcoat. Make sure it gets soaked with the spray and well heated. It will come off.

Good luck.
