Side mirror dimming / tint

I'm looking for a solution to relieve the glare from the side mirrors. I wish there was an auto-dim feature for the side mirrors but I can't afford to get a BMW or a Benz.

I noticed that some cars have blueish side mirrors and I've read in a few places that this OEM feature helps reduce some of the glare and reduces blinding light. I am thinking about applying some of that blue tint (if I can find the right one) to my side mirrors.

Has anyone done this?

You should be the first! Don't forget to report back if it worked! I haven't run into this problem yet, and my front windows aren't even tinted yet.

My Infiniti had blue anti-reflective coated mirror glass from factory. They didn't help with glare in any situation, and they weren't auto dimming. I don't know if aftermarket tint film will make any difference.

After doing some quick research. It doesn't seem like it's a good idea. From what I've read, the tint is prone to age quickly, making night visibility very difficult. Keep in mind that our side mirror glass is very fragile and prone to scratching. Using razor blades on regular glass is okay (given a safe angle), but using the same technique to remove/clean our side mirror glass will definitely result in scratches.

I wonder if CX-5's in other markets (outside of North America) have auto dimming side mirrors. They do have power folding mirrors.
