Side marker bulb

I don't know if this has been addressed yet, but I am wanting to change out the yellow bulb on my 3's side markers. I took them off and looked and it seems as though the clear plastic part is glued on. I tried to gently pry it off, but it looked like it was going to break. Is there some way to get them open or is there somewhere to buy side markers with different color bulbs in them?

you can't take the bulb out
I don't mean to sound like an ass, but that's one reason why they did that.... to stop people like you from changing the bulb to a different color which jeoporadizes safety

now the WORSE reason of it all is so that they can gouge you for the stupid light (on which you can't replace the bulb, only the whole thing) because they KNOW you have to go to the stealership to get one!

If you remove it and replace it with an aftermarket (Rice) marker, then you can change it to whatever color you like...

well that bucking flows! I don't really see how it is a saftey issue. If I was to put a hyper white bulb in there it would be alot brighter than the one that is in it. I love the clear lense look on the car .. but when that bright orange light blinks .. just kills the whole thing.

That bright white light might possibbly be a distraction for oncoming drivers or for drivers next to you...That one reason why you aren't supposed to put them in..just the yellow or amber or orange...Whatever you want to call it.Technically its amber but whatever.
The other is to meet federal lighting guidelines for autos.

ok .. so orange, amber, yellow .. no matter what you call it .. it looks like s*** on the side of a nice white car. I don't see that being a distraction to others .. it is only on when I am turning .. besides .. I don't really care what law is what .. the whole idea of modding is to make it look unique .. if we obeyed all the laws .. we would all probably be driving the same cars .. so all I really needed to know is wheather or not they could be opened ...

actually, white is very hard to see during the day, and its over brightness at night causes a pretty bad glare/dazzle problem to many.... that's pretty much the reason why white turn signals are a NO NO

Just to clairify .. I am not talking about the actual turn signals in the headlight .. I am talking about the small side light in front of the door. I don't think that a white light on the side of the car will be to distracting. I am not planning on changing the actual turn signals white .. just that small one on the side. Hope that helps .. I saw someone in another post painted his tail lights and that little side light a smoke color and he painted the inside of the housings. I can't find that post now .. but he had to have taken it apart to be able to paint the inside of it. I was hoping someone would know how he got the clear part off the housing without breaking it.

Sorry ,but if they werent distracting then they would be legal.Cars are all around you and do not neccesarily come frrom ahead and behind.A driver coming from your left or right might be distracted by the bright blinking white light your car is emmitting while waiting to turn and he is trying to drive past.I know that this situation is UNLIKELY ut it must have enough of an effect for the gov't. to determine that this is not a good idea to do in cars.
Just my .02 cents

we know what you are talking about and that is STILL a turn signal/blinker

WOW .. LOL .. all I wanted to know is if anyone knows how to do it .. a simple no would do .. not a huge lecture on the saftey of driving and the history of "turn signal law" .. Thanks for all the input though .. I will take all the negativity as a no.
