Show me your 205's

if u wanna know how much the speedo'd be off, try here:
Tire Size Calculator
It'll tell u how far off the spedo'll be off, along w/ other rim / tire stats. I don't remember what size our tires are stock, but u can find that out...

EDIT: 195/50-16

For the record I've got 205/40-17's...and they're pretty small. They were on the car when I got it, so I have an excuse...I think I'm gonna stay w/ them tho, cuz the speedo's just a tick fast.

Bringing back an older thread (deadhorse to support a couple points paul made-

Stiffer sidewalls, as far as I'm concerned as well, are heavier than softer sidewall tires. Check out edgeracing.com- they have weights for their tires, and when comparing a Falken RT-615 (falkens are notoriously known for their stiff sidewalls) and say something like the Toyo T1-S (which is also known for its fairly soft sidewall, but light weight) you can see like few pound difference between tires of the same size.

I would run 195's as a snow tire, or even 185/55/16 (i don't know if tires are even made in that size; just said it because its very close to OEM spec), again for the same reason paul mentioned. Look at the WRC cars and their super skinny studdeds when they do snow/ice courses.

And going from a 195/50 to a 205/40 would mean a difference of 4 inches overall diameter, not even going into the speedo deal, your wheel gap would increase and the car overall would sit lower to the ground.

thats why i went with a 205/45 series not 205/50 or whatever the stockers are.

Keeping the thread alive!

Just put on my Hankook Ventus V4ES H105's (205/50R16)...
Hope they'll be decent for a Cleveland winter.

New Tires OWNZ!!! BTW i got ran off the road 3 days ago, (boom07) and only one tire blew and no damage to the rim (thumb) , though i was going 56 MHP!! DAMN DRUNK BASTARDS! (deadhorse

I just went from 215/35/18's to 205/50/16's. My issue was the wheels had too little backspacing, and were rubbing on the rear fenders. Plus the ride with the 35 series tires was a little rough at times, but bearable.

The handling has definitely suffered... which was expected. Maybe someday when i am bored i'll roll the fenders and return to the 18's.. but the ride is sooo nice with the new tires i'm just going to enjoy it for a while.
