The lower profile of the 45 part will alter your speedo reading. Your miles per hour may be off by .00004586963 percent at highway speeds.

Its nothing to fret about.

yea since i m getting a winter stuck, i think i want to stick w/ 195
so umm if i get 195/55R16, it should still be fine right?
i really don't get what does the higher/lower profile do
i m very noob at this... haha

^^

Sidewall will, in general, determine the comfort of your ride. The taller the sidewall (larger number) the more comfort oriented the tires will be. Conversly, the shorter the sidewall(smaller number), the more harsh your ride will be.

Like I said, this is in general. You can have a 60 series sidewall that's hard as a rock and the ride would be more harsh than a regular 60 series tire.

Make sense?

Then there are those ultra low profile tires that look more like they are just for style, or at least thats what they look like to me.

If you want tight handling, just get something with a hard sidewall. Oh yeah, AFAIK harder sidewalls usually mean heavier tires (i.e. azenis, b/f Goodrich G-force) I'm not completely sure on that tho.

so 195/55R16 would fit on the stock rim for sure , right?
i just afraid that it would rub against the car... lol
and dont want to waste money to get it online and not fit

Very nice looking ride. What kind of tires are those?

They are the Dunlups (spelling) 195/45/16 very low profile, but the paint job was custom (original paint with a shy coat which gives off that glary look)

would that 10 milimeters do that much to change the effectiveness of the tire digging in? i unno if its for snow only then 195 i guess but all season 205 at least that my opinions.

I only get about 10 snow storms a season so I don't even buy snow tires. But I have driven my Yokohama 205/45/16's in the snow and they did fine.

thanks.. 205/45R16 it is then
hahah
yea i lives in rochester, crazy snow
i called tirerack this morning, they keep saying i should stick w/ stock size , otherwise i would **** up my brake and s*** like that

Um, you want as little width as you can get with snow tires! Look at WRC (extreme example, I know) the point is they have incredibly skinny tires compared to the tarmac, or dirt tires, there's a reason for that.

The wider the contact area the more potential for slipping the tires. You should really stick with the 195's. 205's would be fine for dry weather, but not snow.
