should i buy..

it wasnt just the system it was the customer, that wasnt make much power so he kept wanting me to lean the car out....so in all honesty it wasnt just the system that had me pissed.

as huge as there layout screens are I just am more used to hydra, aem, utec.

For ease of use the ap takes the cake by far for someone new to tuning. Plus I know all the guys at cobb and they will stay late if you need some help.

yeah, and lou and josh stay past midnight everynight at CP-E HQ (trust me, hung out there that late many times) AP is very easy to use, but keeps track of every reflash the ECU has made, dealerships can look that crap up. At least with the PnP standback, you can just take that thing out and the dealership will never know :)

as for customers, I can see how that is a huge pain when they are asking for stuff they have no clue about. Maybe it's because I'm a control freak when it comes to my car, but I want to be able to control what is going on with my car, not some guy that has never seen my car telling me I should put their tune in there. 1 tune does not fit all, even if everybody has the same parts. Alot of variables come in that 1 tune for everyone will not be good for.

honestly, dont post up if you dont know the truth about something.
The AP saves EVERYTHING on the stock ecu(if you choose to do so) and rewrites it back when you unmarry the accessport. It has a checksum, and everything, so if they hook up their scantools to the ecu, they'll see exactly the same stuff as theyd see if you never flashed it with the Accessport.

wow, I'm sorry to make you look kind of dumb on here, but i wasn't talking about scan tool. The ECU's in the Mazda have a way to keep track of the reflashes it has done to it. Yes, putting the stock tune will get you by most of the time, but if Mazda gets suspecious, that can see that the car has been reflashed and will know by the vin number if mazda reflashed it at some point in there record system, or a 3rd party did it if they have no record of a reflash on your car. This is kind of common knowledge man, not trying to be a jerk or anything.

Go ask Cobb and come back with the right facts.
the checksum(the number of times the ecu has been flashed) will be the same before and after the cobb flash.
I think Cobb would know a little bette rthan the average forum poster.

If you leave the flash on the ecu and take it to the dealer then its different, and if you're talking about that, then I apologize. But you said you can remove the standback really easy, so I assumed that you were talking about the AP being unmarried as well.

And if they get suspiscious.. I think you have a way better chance getting away with an ecu reflash than you do with a hacked up wire harness.

if you flash with an ap and then flash back to stock can a dealer tell by reading the ecu?

There is nothing residual or otherwise that they can detect.

I don't think he was considering the StandBack at this time.

He specifically asked about the Full Throttle Flash vs the AP.

Honestly between the two, I might consider the Piasini Flash instead...nothing but good things. That is if you want a bolt-on type of tuning where you just get flashed and forget about it.

If you plan to continue modding your car and don't plan on stopping with standard mods, then you'll want the CP-E Flash with the StandBack shortly after... Once the AP offers some type of custom tuning then that one too.

But for an ECU type of bolt-on, I would suggest the Piasini; pending a little research on your part just to make sure.

I got the CP-E Flash and I am very happy with it, though it did force me to get a MAP clamp and a MBC...I could have just gotten the StandBack.
Anyway, since the CP-E Flash gives you 100% throttle opening, my boost curve changes and though I was on stock boost, the ECU sensed a difference boost curve and triggered boost cut; I never exceeded max PSI, just held it a little longer.

Anyway, those are other things to consider. If you get the CP-E Flash, probably count on buying a MAP clamp or if you have the budget for it, get the StandBack too (which now comes in PnP). Also, with my stock turbo, the CP-E Flash made me lose a little power at the top end since the stock turbo can't keep up. But that was resolved with a MBC to increase the boost to 18 PSI and now the car just RIPS!!!! (burnout)

Good luck with your decision!!!

correct. i dont really intend on buying a standback due to the fact i dont like my car anymore and would rather spend money on my civic and rx-7s. ill just keep my ms3 for daily driving like i intended on doing when i bought it because it just doesnt seem to make me happy anymore
as for the map clamp i already have one on my car along with a mbc set to 18. maybe later on in life i will have a change of heart and starting modding my brick with internals and a larger turbo but until then im just looking for a little more fun past 5500 rpm.
