Shots of my P5

Looks great for a stock susp. Also, it is amazing how the two exhausts matched up--cool!

I also wanted to comment on the overlays not being a functional mod, but with the love/hate thing sometimes you cannot escape ;)

The overlays are probably coming off in favor of the headlight black-out mod when I get some time to pull apart my front end. With all the low-tone colors (blue, black, bronze), the chrome headlights were a blinding eyesore.

it looks wonderful man.all worth the hardship. keep it up. can you tell what color and brand you used for the rims?

I used Duplicolor Engine Enamel in the Universal Gold. The engine enamel is pretty thick and the finish after 5 coats is virtually rock and scratch-proof. I didn't clear coat them because if they were to get chipped or scratched, I could touch them up with the rattle can.

wow never thought of engine enamel. good choice and great color, i'll keep that product in mind if i ever want to color my other rims. thanks for the help buddy.

No worries. I didn't know where to start but some kind fellas here on the boards clued me into the engine enamel and the color, so I won't take credit for the discovery. It's a little pricey at ~$6 a can (I ended up using 5 cans) but Duplicolor has awesome nozzles which allow even a novice, like myself, to have a really smooth finish.

I can tell you right now, this color would look absolutely sick on your Black Mica P5. By the looks of things, this color is pretty similar to the Rota Torque's on Sandspeed's black MSP and everyone knows how nice his car looks.

It's amazing how black headlights tie the whole front of the car together, perfectly complementing the factory grills (see sig :)) you won't be disapointed. On a side note, do you notice the apex r diverter plate much when the hood is closed? I've got one on both my Pro's and it just blends in on my sunlight silver, but it really looks wierd and stands out on my blue MSP. I am thinking of painting the leading edge black.

Yeah, my Apex diverter plate can be seen quite well with the hood closed...it's the only thing I don't like about it. Never thought of blacking out the front edge to blend it though, good idea! I'll probably try that later today.

Sweet ride!Ya,I'm not a fan of the headlight overlays, either.I mean they look tight, but they are taking away light output. The headlight housing black out mod is good. That's what I'm gonna do.Hahaha!I agree,w/ my red/black theme going on,the chrome will not work.

Ok. I'm in a state of indecision. What should I do from these choices:

1) Keep the gold MP3 wheels but switch to 215/40/17's so I can drop it safely

2) Buy a set of used stock 03 P5 wheels, repaint them (white, charcoal, or silver), and wrap them in 205/45/16's

3) Buy a set of 17x7 Rota Subzero's, +48mm offset, Silver

4) Buy a set of 16x7 Rota Subzero's, +45 or +48mm, Silver

AutoRnD: Rota Subzero's

Keep the wheels, stay unique :)

Looking good....awesome job on the wheels. I say keep 'em, especially after all the work you put into them. I will agree with everyone else and say remove the headlight overlays and paint them bad boys. Not hard and what a world of difference it makes to the front end.

The overlays are already off the car. I am waiting until after school is out (for good because I'm graduating from college in 7 days!) to pull the bumper off and do up the headlights.

So it sounds like I should keep the MP3's and change from my 215/45/17's to 215/40/17's? I took a chance with the 45 series and I am about 4-5 millimeters from rubbing on the strut housing and about the same distance from the spring perch! It doesn't help that the MP3 wheels are a +55mm offset which could be fixed with some spacers but those make me a bit nervous.
