Hey, does anyone know if there is a short throw shifter available for the 6-spd in the speed6? I just picked up my Speed3 a couple weeks ago and I'm pretty sure its the same shifter in both cars. Really needs a short shifter, haven't had any luck finding one? Anyone have any info on this?

I think they "call" the regular speed6 shifter a short shift. Wether it's really short or not I'm not gonna get into. But I don;t hink I've ever heard of one available especially from mazdaspeed.

Mabey other will know more I just got my speed 6 a few weeks ago.

Congrats on the speed3.

Comparing mine to my buddy's short throw STI shifter I'd say that the factory MS6 shifter throw is at least twice a long.

yeah, its definitely not a short throw thats for sure. In fact its substantially taller and longer than my 06 Mazda3 5-spd shifter that I just traded against the 07 speed3. Anyway, I really hope someone comes out with a short shifter for the speed cars soon! B&M, TWM are you listening!!? :)

TWM is in the process...

Here are my thoughts on the potential of a Short Shifter....

Go to a dealer, and sit in a 2006/2007 6 SPD Miata. You'll notice the same shift knob, and what "should" be the same shift linkages. But you'll also notice that the Miata throw is MUCH shorter, substantially. Without taking both cars apart its hard to tell, but I would be willing to bet that the Miata short throw could potentially bolt right in....

Yes it may just bolt in and that would be great but if you get to short in the speed6 it will be a knuckle buster for sure. Plus me being 65 it is fine but if your arms are much shorter then it will also be hard to hit fifth gear.
