Shift vibration?

Has anyone ever noticed this? Say I'm accelerating and push in the clutch and shift to the next gear...as I let the clutch back out to engage, I get a rumble sound/vibration from the transmission. You have to have the radio off to hear it. I once had a truck (auto trans.) and when it would shift into gear, it would make a similar rumble/vibration, and it had a bad universal joint. I know that's different, but it's a similar sound/feeling.

There doesn't SEEM to be a problem as of yet, but I'm just curious if anyone else experiences this. I don't consider it to be 'normal', but maybe it is for a MSP.

I know exactly what your talking about you can hear it alot at high RPM's. I've always wondered what is causeing this and if its bad on the trans. Any one have ideas???

If you're having *any* worries about your clutch or transmission, get away from your computer and hed to the dealership asap. Make sure they document your complaint about the noises and if it continues, go back and back until something happens.

I've burnt up my second clutch within 31k miles and we've found that it was the throwout bearing, which I had complained about before. Mazda will not cover it however because I only complained about the issue once and I have no way to prove that the condition continued after that time.

Car's now sitting and will be out of service for three weeks or so.

Yep. I've gotten the same thing. I'm not sure if I just wasn't payin' attention enough when I first got the car to not hear it .. or if it developed over time. Either way, I get the vibration -- most noticably in 4th gear, though occassionally in 3rd.

I don't know when I'm gonna get the chance to see the dealership again .. so if anyone heads to their dealer about this issue, make sure t'keep us posted!

i get this too, is it anything to worry about?
I shift around 2l, 2.5k, and when easing off the clutch and adding gas.. i head a lil rumble, it sounds exactly (and in a way feels) like your driving over a lil rumble strip.

comments pls....

Well atleast I know I'm not imagining this. I guess I need to get it documented with the dealership atleast. I didn't start noticing it until I has a few thousand miles or so on the car. As far as test drives, I think it's easy to get caught up in the excitement of buying a new car that you do miss things. Oh well. Thanks for your input guys.

It's the driver. It's harder than most cars to get the clutch -> gas movment just right. I had the 'rumble' but it stopped after I got used to the car and started being more deliberate with my shifts.

I should check this out .

Skilletrx, when you are back up in VA let me know. I want to see if I have the same problem. Hrm..........

homar, so wut do u do give it more gas b4 releasein clutch? ::shrug:: im not sure anymore, cuz i left my car at nova, i'll be back home for chin. new yrs (this fri)

take your car to the dealer. make sure they document it and keep going back until the problem is addressed and fixed. you do *not* want to go through two clutches in 31k miles, trust me.

could this also have something to do with the bad engine mounts causing alot of drivetrain lash? Everything moves around so much down there
