Shift Lock Mechanism broken..Again

A couple of weeks ago- while at the dealership- the shift lock mechanism stopped working. I was unable to move the car out of Park to reverse/Drive etc.. The dealer (allegedly) fixed issue by installing a new shift lock mechanism; and it worked fine for 2 weeks. Unfortunately- last night- the issue repeated itself. Is there a way to override the shift lock ?( as is common in other cars?). Also- if anyone has any insight into what could be the problem- I am all ears!

same thing happened to me last night. I ended up taking the plastic "gear shift pattern guide" or whatever you call it out to reveal several broken plastic parts that unlock the shifter. probably this weekend will try to take apart the whole center part of the car between the seats and some how permanently disable this stupid junk of a mechanism. this crap has locked up on me several times in the past but this time it broke for good and without any tools i had to get at it only with a leatherman pocket tool.

if anyone has any tips on hot to completely disable this shift lock then please post here thanks.
