Couldn't find anything in search, but anyone know of a shift kit for the Mazda3 automatics?

I wouldnt really say that its worth the money since the automatic mazda 3's have triptronic but i do know of 2 auto tranny upgrades for our car that are passed down from the focus. I have been emailing back and forth with www.lentechautomatics.com and they say that their valve bodies that they make for the focus will work on our tranny and the 12,000 GVWR tranny oil cooler will work on our tranny but to get the 12,000 unit you pretty much hafta call them to place the order because its not on their site.

Thanks.

I only recently heard of shift kits from a party a couple nights ago, and I was talking to this ME (well, almost about to graduate as one) and we went through a lot of topics about the future of automotives, and the shift kit definitely was something of interest. I don't believe he knows that I have a tiptronic, so I got the impression that shift kits would help shorten the gap between me and mtx people. Then again if I left my car in drive with this thing, it would probably do better than me "manumatically" shifting it.

The valve bodies that lentech make really speed up the shifting process and also makes for a more firm shift. Definitely worth the 450 that it costs. and it is said to take 3-4 tenths of a sec off 1/4 times.

Maybe I was a bit confused on what a shift kit acutally does, but I thought it sped up the shifting, sacraficing a little bit of the comfort and increasing durability and reducing shifting times.

They (the shift kit and the valve body) sound like they do the same.

haha

The torque converters that they make for the focus are a big no. The spline count or somthing is different. Im trying to talk to them about modifying theirs to fit the three but they still arent giving in. I know they make really good quality stuff too so im definitely gettin the V-bodies and the cooler once the funds are here

I dont really know exactly what a shift kit is but the only people ive really herd talking bout shift kits are country boys with trucks, not implying that you are one, just saying that it might be some kind of term country boys use for valve bodies.

Hah, no offense taken. 450 is for both the valvebody and tranny oil cooler? Any idea on how long/difficult the installation would take?

srry 450 is if you dont wanna send the stock V-bodies to them and get the core charge back. With it being a mazda 3 V-body i doubt they will take it but you never know, I will email them tomorow and ask them that.

The tranny oil cooler i would guess woulndt be so hard that you couldnt do it on your own but the V-bodies i would suggest taking to a professional. My cousin tells me that V-bodies are a breeze but he has been doing this for 5 years so i would most definitely take it to a pro. I do know that when you get the V-bodies it would also be a good time to put some better ATF like royal purple or somthing.

Shift kits make the car shift firmer and with less clutch slippage. This is usually done by opening up specific internal passages in the valve body or changing specific springs (usually on the accumulator) or removing or changing the position of specific check balls within the valve body.
The parts and installation are usually very simple but it takes a lot of time and research to develop the kit.

Would one help the Mazda3 tranny? Maybe. But since everything is electronically controlled, it also may not help much.

Will one ever be made? Probably not. Mazda has a very limited market share when it comes to performance accessories, so the chances of a shift kit are slim.

Thanks goldwing. I was looking at these reprogramming kits, but I haven't found anything for the Mazda3 or even a Ford Focus.

Something like that would probably be the best bet.

Does anyone know the part number for the '06 Mazda3 Automatic Transmission? Would it be the same part number for the Mazda6i?

Hmm...found this, wonder if it will work on my transmission. but 700 bucks...hmmm
