I use 93 all the time and i dont want to waste the extra 10 cents that it is out here per gallon to go to an expensive gas station...

but my question is, does anyone notice the difference between that and standard 93 Octane?

Personally....you are wasting your money putting in 93 of ANY kind....the car (protege) is designed to run on regular unleaded, unless you are driving an MP3 or a MSP....do the homework.....higher octane gas is designed to BURN SLOWER for higher compression performance engines...not ours.

so if you are driving a car that NEEDS it....the Vpower thing is just a gimmik...save your green

i drive a VW GTI 1.8T and it needs i would say minimum 90 but if you want performance of any kind then get the 93... but yea i always get 93 and i was just curious so i don't have to spend trhe extra $5 that i dont have to lol

on the 1.8t using higher octane will help performance ... however the shell V power is a gimik ... its just there new way of selling gas ... like chevron techron and all the others that name the crap they put in your gas ...

ive been using it when in my hometown, its actually the same or cheaper than other 93 octanes around here so it cant hurt.

I noticed that after I but a little of the 93 V-Power in the tank I got about 25mpg, all city driving, in my 'Speed. My needle was below 'E". I think we have a little over 2 gallons of gas when the light comes on and we've got a 14 1/2 gallon tank I believe.

its jsut the same 93. they give it a fancy name to sell more.
its all about profit. is it still 93 octane? then its the same as other 93 octane, minus whatever additives they throw in it.

ok thanks guys. my friend said he felt the difference (not sure if it was because he was sniffing it or something but yea)

No, you won't notice a difference in performance. In fact, I even read the fold-out ad for it, and IT doesn't even make that claim. All it says it does is help remove deposits from your injectors and valves, etc. On a newer car you won't have this build-up yet, so at the most all it will do is help keep your engine cleaner over the long haul. Hell, I use it though. It doesn't cost any more then the competition, and they make no claim about higher performance.

do they mention anything about a performance gain in the commericals?? i think they're only saying it's supposed to burn cleaner for environmental purposes. though most gas brands are the same thing it's all about what they add in it. i've had several cars that don't like techron gas in particular. some of the stuff they add in there made the engines run like s***. maybe more then one batch of bad gas on several different occasions?? *shrug*

don't all companies put stuff in the gas to clean your engines?

i know chevron (techron) and shell (v-power) run ads that say they do. how about other brands like mobile, 76, exxon do they?

i just got soe and i didnt notice anything.....its the same price as all the other 93 octane. i usually dont put 93 in my car but i though i would try it. back to amoco/BP 89 octane
