server tuning

We're tuning the server to avoid some of the timeouts you may have noticed lately. We think it was related to a plugin we installed. The optimizations should not have any side effects. If you notice anything strange, let me know.

The server has been acting very strange over the past few days:

"Server is busy, try again later"

Got a ton of these through the weekend and it is carrying over to this week. Just thought I'd let you know...

yeah because the alternative to that is the box falls over and dies. we're trying to find the cause though.. plz be patient.

I made a post at 8:06 tonight. I noticed an error in it so I figured I would just quickly edit it and go on my way.

Needless to say, an hour and 2 minutes later, the page finally loaded with my changes done.

Yeah, not a complaint, but just making you aware: I've get 10 or more "Server's too busy" comments a day. Are we really overloading the beast?

I don't think its an overload. Usually when something is added to a server, many updates have to be made, hence the "busy server" message. this happens at work a lot with our intranet.
