sedan lip

(wow) Great job, I'm impressed. Now I need to find someone that can dremel my grill, since I would destroy it trying.

how did you take the painted top strip off?

Very carefully.. it's cliped right in there, basically I just used a flat screwdriver and carefulyl pried until it popped out or cracked. Just to let you know, I ordred my vinyl from vinzdecals and their black is extremely close to 16w.

Ah it's not that bad, just take your time. The tough part is getting it to fit the shape of the stock grill because its an odd shape and it didn't trace well. Basically I just started taking bits off and got it to the point where I could wedge it in the shell, mark off the bits that needed cutting, take it out, cut it, and repeat.

The other thing is if you're worried about the edges looking frayed or uneven, you could run some sort of boarder around the mesh and it's hide any of your mistakes. I figured strip styrene would do the trick.

I'm really happy with the match up, only grips is that you can see my horn up close up and from far away it looks as though I have no grill, lol. I was at work one day and saw my car sitting in the lot and thought "son of a b**** I lost the mesh?!"

Thanks for the postive feedback!

Well it looks awesome i must say. I wish they made an autoex type grill for us sedans...

I know there was some canadian doing the autoexe style lip for the sedans. might wanna search it up and ask one of the fellow people that also posts on the toronto protege forum, to get more info.

Oh yeah I forgot they don't make one. Everyone always just jumps ship to the Protege MP3/MSP/P5 front bumper, but then you lose that awesome lip. I wish there was a lip along those lines (just a simple, small lip) for the P5 bumper.

Ya it was made by rocketz.net I think. Looks pretty good with the MSP rear lip and sideskirts. There is some pictures of it somewhere on the forum here.

Re-locate your horn (just uncrew the attachment then mover to where the wire will permit (Most use the screw that holds the pass side of the grill on top) Then you will have your cake and can eat it too.

I just bought a autoexe type grill for my sedan, Im taking a chance and hope she will work, Im waiting on delivery, when she gets here Ill post up Pics of how she fits, Im sure the DX/LX/ES crowd will be interested.

I have the factory front/rear lips and side skirts to put on my '03 ES. Unfortunately I didn't get my car back from the shop before I came back to work so I won't have them installed until late Sept-early Oct. Originally I wanted to modify a DGM P5 lip for the front, but there wasn't much way to make sure it would stay on. Also, even though I had it stored well when I pulled it out there was a crack in the bottom middle. I never got a response from DGM on how to fix the thing.

If you use those side skirts I would recommend getting the factory mounting pieces, as well as the instructions/drill template. Someone on here ought to be able to send you a copy.
