SE-R vs MP5, Round 2:D

It might make the car heavier, but more than makes it up in the corners...

Why do you think they banned Audi Quattors from almost of racing series around the world?

Advantage perhaps?

The Audi A4 Super touring Car was banned from the BTCC because of the all-wheel drive advantage. Motorsport Vortex acutally has a pretty cool article on their site about it.

Just may smite you yet!

well now according to BMW they have AWD option in their 3 series.... soooooooooo maybe AWD M3 or M5 comming? eh eh? but i do question Audi's reliability since they are in cohorts with VW, because the newer VW's are not as reliable as the older ones.

Audi can make a great sports car that handles great, still i am M power hungry!

Man if they make the M3 all wheel drive it would be like the perfect car.
1. It's a BMW!!!
2. Loads of power.
3. Nothing looks better than a black on black BMW.
4. BMW's get chicks (not that I need chicks)
5. The M3 just has beautiful styling to it. Definately one of the best coupe stylings ever.

Well that about covers it, oh wait IT'S A BMW!!!! K now that I've said that.

Quattro or no quattro. All wheel drive or not. You know what, the M3 doesn't need it. It's all about engineering in the total package. It's bang for the buck, feel, status, etc. Audi claims the upcoming 2003 Audi S4 to have a 0-60mph time if 5.5 second, equipped with a 4.2 liter 344 hp V-8 engine. The M3 has a 3.2 liter 333 hp V-6 engine, yet has a 0-60 time of 4.8 seconds. It only trails Honda and Ferrari for the most hp per liter in any naturally aspirated engine, but is torquier than both Honda and Ferrari. 87 lb ft. of torque to Honda and Ferrari's 77 lb ft. of torque to be exact. I don't know about you guys, but the M3 is just a supreme piece of machinery.

HELL NO!

M3 on road and track, anyplace at anytime! but the s4 is very apealing! i would take an S4 and use it in the winter time and then take on M3's! HA HA! whomp on S4's during the summer, and whomp everyone else in the winter!

but...... if they do make an option of 4WD on the M3 like they are doing for the 3 series..... M3 all the time!

The M3 couldn't beat the Porsche 911 GT3 in racing without cheating...BMW had to put a V-8 in there to beat the Porsches in the ALMS, and sometimes still couldn't. The staright six wasn't comeptitive.

BMW M3 is all about cheating their way to the win...Porsche, all about racing.

Audi R8s beat the BMW Protoype cars on a regular basis...V-8 twin turbo in Audi (no quattro), V-12 in the BMW. Audi is about engineering. BMW quit. In the BTCC the Audi's beat the BMW there too.

Sorry, for my dollar, the S4 wins hands down...I think the MP3 has shown, its not all about the power. Its about the control.

TRUE DAT TRUE DAT!

like i said before, the 911 GT2 is THE car i want..... droooooooool!

Viper is way to scary to drive. Corvette Z06, not enough pizaz. F50 is a pure race car.

Porsche knows where its at!

I don't know. A mclarean F1 would be mighty tasty. I love you you sit right in the middle of the car. Not to mention it does 240 from the factory. But it's also about the most expensive retail car in the world, just about 1.3 mil. Good think I've been working weekends.

The Viper is junk, so is the Vette. The old GT2 was beating the Viper until Oreca took over and developed that car. The Porsche had basically been left alone for about a year (development wise) before that happened. The Corevette had to be completely re-designed midway through its first season to be competitve. And the 550 hasn't been able to keep pace in the ALMS neither.

I'd like to see the new GT2 get into the GTS class, but I think Porsche will throw in the Carrera GT. That V-10 beast that they are only building some 1500 of, you know, to meet homologation rules.;)

The GT3 is an awesome car in GT, Anything Porsche puts into GTS will be a dominant car too. Now they just need to get off their arses and build a proper prototype car like the old 911 GT1 that won in 98...Porsche hasn't had an outright victory in the 24 hours for awhile now, they are about do.

A lot of folks have a problem with comparing apples to oranges. First, they compare a sentra to a p5 (sedan to wagon), some compare a neon srt to 350z, (20k car to 30k in different classes), now we're comparing an m3 to the gt3. Just like the new automobile magazine comparing the new accord v-6 coupe to the new clk. Gt3 is about 3 times the price of an m3. the clk is twice the price of the accord coupe, yet we want to state that someone has supremacy over the other. Sure, pick S4 over an M3 and it's cool, as long as you state the right reasons. But bringing in a Gt3 worth about 150k to compete with an M3 that's about 50k to pick a fight is ridiculous. Then saying that someone is cheating is also ridiculous. We need to compare things that are comparable. Before you know it, someone's gonna compare the Rav4 to the Hummer H2. Watch out now. Someone's gonna come into defense of the Rav4!!! Anyway, do you ever in your lifetime see yourself in one of those GT cars? I sure don't. So in the meantime I'll live down here instead of dreaming up there.

So you think BMW was right for putting a v-8 in the M3 in order to be competitive with the Porsche in the GT class? If the M3 is such a great car, it should have been able to keep pace with out the v-8.

BMW entered the M3 in the GT class to race. If it wasn't competitive, they should haven't done it. Price or not.

I love Porsche's, but give me a break already. The Street Legal M3 GTR is about 125k and just a regular Porsche Gt3 is much more than that. It's like saying if a Neon wanted to start racing against V-6 M3's , they'll be cheating for putting in a V-8 engine, theoretically speaking. That's even if the M3 still costs almost twice as much as a the Neon would. "if the m3 is such a great car, it should have been able to keep pace without a V-8?" Gimme a break. The Honda Accord is a great car for what it's meant for and for the price. But I guess it's not such a great car because a V-12 Mercedes S-class can whoop it's ass. Anyway, my point is to compare things that should be compared. I guess you'd be comparing an M3 to an Enzo Ferrari, instead of comparing the Enzo Ferrari to the Lamborghini Murcielago.

i agree

as much as i love M3's, on track or road.... they have nothing compared to porsche. even a super tuned BMW V-8 with the same numbers as a porsche engine, still wouldnt have anything on the 911, 911GT2 and GT3.

Porsche is THE street machine. and i say the best bang for the buck in their class of sports car.

but i do have to say, there are neon's running 9's in the quarter mile. but if you put a V-8 in one, then it isnt a neon now is it???

I'm comparing two racecars that raced in the same damn class...They are not apples and oranges there. And so, how is it that they are suddenly become apples and oranges on the street?

And yes, I still think it is cheap that BMW had to put a V-8 in there M3 to compete. Plus the street M3 runs a straight six. I don't think BMW has ever made a V-6.

A regular Porshce GT3 was not more than $125,000. The street going car was porbalby right around that price mark. The GT2 is in the $150,000 territory.
