Scratches!!!

I am a first time poster to this board but have read it on and off since I started researching the P5. I bought one through CarsDirect in late March when they told me that the half year model wouldn't be out til the end of the year. So I didn't get tweeters and the sportshift...which would have been nice seeing that I needed an automatic so my wife could drive it...and I live in horrible city traffic. AND it's the only blue I could find. But overall I love this car for all the same reasons you love yours...

ANyway here is my issue...through every fault of my own I have gotten scratches on the interior plastic around the back rear windows of the car from putting in and taking out the dog's crate...because it barely fits in the car. I'm guessing that the only way to deal with these scratches is to replace the plastic but I was wondering if any of you know of any solutions to this problem. It takes away from the greatness of a new car when the interior is damaged in little ways.

Thanks,
Nick

Depending how deep they are...you could shave it down a bit with a razor blade....but I haven't seen this done...just brainstorming here.

I've used that Meguiar's scratch remover stuff, and it works pretty well. It's supposed to be for paint scratches, but it made the scratches on my plastic parts less visible as well. I'm not promising a miracle, but you will see improvement.

I'll tell you this, but use extreme caution in doing it. I don't want to be responsible for ruining your interior (although scratches aren't really any better). Use heat. Not like a hair dryer, those don't get hot enough. Use a professional heat gun, and use hand protection as well. When I worked in car audio, we used to have sometimes an installer would slip or something and scratch dashes and consoles and such. A little heat, then rub on it, then a little more heat, and soon it should look good. The smaller ones will disappear, and the larger ones will at least not be as large. Just use caution, and don't over-do it, or you'll melt the plastic beyond help.

i have scratches also....on my dash area....from my dog =( I love her to death......but....coulda killed her when I saw those scratches! Wierd thing is that in my prior car she was always perched with paws on the dash and never scratched anything.......must be poor quality in the P5? I've also noticed the driver door near the bottom is easily scuffed when getting in and out.
I just try not to focus on the scratches!
