Scoobs Build Thread

What about the wiring, that sounds like the hardest part. The motor mounts line up with the factory mounting spots?

If he's going ITB's then I sure hope he's going standalone EMS which sometimes can make it easier once you select the style sensors you're going to use.

I was driving last night and I noticed that my PIAA xtreme white bulbs have gone dimmer. I added these bulbs 7 months ago, I know they were going to dim out but for the price they went dim fast.

I'm going to buy Hella Optilux Extreme XB, H4 80/100 Watts. Swap out the LED H11 also for the Optilux Extreme XB H11 80 Watts. They cost 20$ each set, so if they go dim who cares its not like the 90$ of the PIAA's lol

As for an update on the build and what is next, I'm ordering in June Corksport brake pads, new rotors and a short shift plate for my wife's 2.

In july I will order Corksport Dampers and front swaybar.

In August I will order the Hella bulbs, and a set of Black Magic 500 with 100w bulbs. Thule roof rack + snowboard carrier will also in the plans. Ho yeah the Corksport LED kit since it's getting the axe soon

I will use the oem springs in winter to add ground clearance, we get too much snow over here.

Next summer I will buy DD wheels, exhaust, header and tuning.

I look forward to your experience with the CS pads. OEM are pretty damn good and hard to improve on(for a DD/auto-x car)... aside from cost... which CS is notably less expensive.

After hitting a pot-hole yesterday and seeing that our roads are going to s***, I decided to jack back the 2 before the end of summer.

I will add Corksport Dampers, swaybar, brake pads, CBE.

I will keep the oem wheels, plasti dip them and add p205/55r15 tires (or a set of Hard gravel Rally tires).

For the exterior I will add a set of Hella Black magic with 100w h3 bulbs, Hella 80/100 H4 bulbs, Hella H11 80w bulbs, and I want to copy the Dynamic Roof on the Japanese Mazda2 http://www.demio.mazda.co.jp/13-sssdr/

All this till I buy a small SUV in 2-3 years. I'm looking at the new Jeep Renegade TrailHawk or Jeep Cherokee TrailHawk. You know when you got enough of bad roads and annoying cops ;)

So this build is getting a turn but it will still happen, stay tuned

I like the Dynamic roof graphic...Can't wait to see how yours comes out.

I will jack the car up for winters and drop it back for summers, I'm having to much fun with my CS springs.

Change of plans again I guess lol If the supercharger kit comes out my Mazda2 will get it's own project name, Super15 :)

Now I need lots of overtime to pay for all the things I need for the car, bike, house... it never ends does it

Honestly, that's a lot more work and money than just getting a small lightweight battery. For less than $150, you can get a 200 cca battery that weighs 3 lbs including the aluminum bracket you'll have to fabricate for it. You still get the weight reduction off the heaviest corner of the car and you'll save almost $200.

PM Extremes to see what he got. I've seen it but I always forget to jot it down. He doesn't have the lightest one out there and that thing was plenty to crank over the car, even in the dead cold of winter.

True, I can fabricate a bracket and buy my own battery/ cables/ secondary post. It would cost less for sure

Not even that..Just go with the Ballistic (or similar) build the bracket and call it done.. By the time you run the cable for the relocation, you've gotten back more than half the weight of the original battery.

Is it smaller? I got to look it up.

I want to remove the battery also so I can get to the filter easier when clean up. Putting a small battery in the trunk leaves a nice empty space in the engine bay.

Ok the PIAA xtreme white a getting really dim now. They are still great on high beam but low beam sucks now.

I was hopping they would stay strong at leat 2 years before they went bad because of the price 75$. I will replace them with Hella Optilux xtreme white H4. The price is low 25$ and they are 100/80w.
The low low price will help if they go like the PIAA.

I will buy a set of Hella Black Magic 500 and add a set of H3 Optilux extreme white bulbs 100w to place inside. I'm going to make my own brackets, I got an idea where to mount them :)

Also, my brake rotors and pads are dead. The funny thing, the same thing is happening at 40,000km with the wifes Mazda2.... Maybe the oem rotors and pads are pure crap :( I will upgrade with Corksport Pads and aftermarket rotors for both.
