SCCA Nationals Donations

Zoom Zoom Boom X 3
I've talked with a few of the Proteges that will be heading out to Topeka this year for the SoloII Nationals in September. We all have one thing in common other than the brand of car we drive. We're all poor and the cost of gas is outrageous right now. I know for several of us that are coming from the coasts the gas bill just to get to Topeka and back will be sickening. I'm not one to beg for money or ask for help unless I absolutely have to have it, but I thought it would be very cool and extremely helpful to have a donation fund for those of us traveling to Nationals. I plan to take whatever donations we recieve and split them up evenly between the Mazda Forums members who are competing in Topeka. Anything at all will be helpful to us. We will do our best to do Mazda Forums proud! This is my personal Paypal account as it is all I have available that will work for this. If anyone has a problem with Paypal, but would still like to help please let me know.

Justin, how many competitors are you expecting from the forums?

Not sure yet. Britt (122 Vega) is evaluating his car's potential this weekend. Hopefully he will like it enough for him to make the trip. He said it would run him around $1200 just in gas to tow it to Topeka and back. I'm hoping a few more guys decide to make it out there. Proteges are a lonely site at the National level events so I'm hoping to see some change in that this year.

damn straight you count. You've been a good resource on these forums dishing out AutoX info left and right.

isn't Britt a girl?

I could make it as Topeka isn't too far of a drive for me, but I'd have to be ready to suck it up :D It'd be fun though.

Bump for Britt to get back from his weekend AutoX and like the car enough to take it to Topeka.

I"ll be up there. I am renting my car out to 2 friends in ES (93/193) and running the sweetest Vee Dahb ever in FSP. :) #45 FSP that is ;)

How the hell did you luck up and get that co-drive? 2nd place FSP car from last year. I'm jealous.

I've been wanting to co-drive with him for years and talking about it for a while. We sort of were talking about it last year in June over some beers at a Div party and it sorta happened this year at the div in July.

I am so stoked :)

1. Justin B. (xelderx)
2. Britt G. (122 Vega)

I have a few changes to make to the car before then, but the potential is definitely there. I am editing my videos and will be posting them soon.

Now the question is hotel vs RV? Can you camp at the track?

Britt

I checked the site layout and I think there are some spots for RV's with hookups and stuff for an extra fee. Not sure what the availability is though. i know that all the local hotels are probably booked up, but i don't mind a little driving to and from the event site. Keep me informed of what you are doing with your setup. I've got to install mine this Friday and then go racing Saturday/Sunday. That doesn't leave me much time to fiddle with adjustments so if I can get a good baseline that would help.

You're going to have a blast out there. Just don't bump me out of the trophies (if by some stroke of luck I happen to get that close). I have been flat out refused co-drives in Jinx Jordan's Civic and in Geoff Zimmer's Rabbit. Zimmer let me drive his at a local event. I was only 3/10ths off his time and I beat his co-driver by 7/10ths at the end of the day. First and last time I'll probably ever get to drive a true nationally competitive car. Bunch of scaredy cats.

Well I just hope Karter (Bollmann) and I get to build the FSP VW he has. He's got a 76 VW Rabbit that Richard Windberg is going to tutor us how to build. I tope him we should outsource some of his ingenuity to pay for his racing :)
