Saw 1st MSP with CF hood tonight

Just a side note:
The MSP's are great cars. I love mine. But keep in mind there are many different forms of racing. Theses cars are prepared for Road racing/ Autocrossing from the factory.
If you want to learn how to truly enjoy your car to it's fullist go to an autocross or DE track day. You will find out why these cars are so great. If you want to drag race go to your local 1/4 mile track and have fun.
These cars have fully developed suspension on them and in drag racing this is a disadvantage. Actually the softer the suspension the better. Better weight transfer to the rear wheels for better traction when leaving the line.
Point is, try a different type of racing/driving that suites your vehicle and you'll be surprised at what the car can do. And it's in a safe controlled enviroment. Just my thoughts.

what do you guys think......
A) DGM CF hood
B) DGM ram air
C) Wings West Evo style

?

keep in mind that the evo style from wings west does not come with the side vents that it is shown with in the pictures

ive seen and read of them all over the country, including one death on rithcie hywy just 2 weeks ago due to street races. its stupid...take it to the track!:wtf:

I remember reading about the Ritchie Highway death too...It's a pretty dumb place to drag race, considering how congested it has become over the years. As far back as I can remember, Ritchie Highway has always had someone trying to catch a race.

Yea yea, we've all heard these before. Why it's great why you should, why you should't. And I'll admit, if I'm sitting at a light and a car comes up beside me wanting to race, you're damn right I'll race em to the next light. But I'm not dumb, and I'm not going to weave in and out of traffic with this guy, causing accidents. That's just retarded. Nor do I race on the highways where speeds can get above the 120 mph mark. Way too much to go wrong there. Sure accidents kill people. I know, my close friend just died in december after he tried to take a turn at 80 mph in his rsx-s, hit some loose gravel went off the road and into several trees. He was only 22. It was one of the hardest things ever to deal with in my life. It's not like his car couldn't handle that speed, but he didn't factor in the unknown. What's aroudn that corner when you get there? Could be a deer, could be a tree, could be loose gravel, could be nothing. He didn't konw till it was too late. My point is, I guess you only live once. Sure accidents kill people. But accidents also make people. Just live your life how you want to. Have fun, be dangerous. But don't risk anyone else. I would never put anyone else at rick, for the sake of me having fun. So that being said, you guys be careful no matter what you do.

The only street I ever street race on is this new road in a new subdivision where no one even lives yet so its perfect. Its just like a 1/2 mile straightaway and its really wide and fresh pavement and its the boonies its the only controlled street races I have seen. A few of my friends go out there on weekends and stuff.

What happens if a famliy of four are biking that evening and you pick this safe "controlled" environment to race? People tend to be very unpredictable and all it takes is one wrong move by them or you to kill someone. Manslaughter or second degree murder wont rub right off they will stick. It's very possible that one day you could mourn your action and be reaching for the soap.

No offense man but I have seen far too many Boy-racers fly by me with my kids in the car and barely miss us to have any positive consideration for street racing.

so i am going to turn this back into a carbon fiber hood thread... slug, you cant go wrong with carbon fiber, it is the coolest material ever invented. personally my motto is, "if youre gonna do it do it right." so if i get a carbon fiber hood it will be hte dg motorsports ram air. but since i dotn happen to have $1200 in my pocket looks like i will just settle for the intake... the wings wet hood is sweet too, i saw in on a p5 last weekend, its all about you man

I'll drop back in on the topic at hand which was the CF hood.

Carbon fiber hoods are hot. No way around that one. I could only imagine how bad ass a carbon fiber hood would look on an orange MSP. I would say go for it. It will not only save you a few pounds, but set you apart from everyone else.

I reccommend hood pins, even though they are not absolutely necessary.

you saw the wings west hood on a p5?!?!

PICS PICS PICS

all i have seen it on is the wings west protege, and that thing has a 2 toned hood and black side vents and the hood bonnet andl ike 1484 other things going on. I was really excited to hear they were making a evo hood but im not 100% sure its not "too much"

I appologize for hijacking the thread. Sorry. But I do think a CF hood would definately look great on an orange MSP. Extremely nice. Good luck in finding one that fits ya.

sorry to say i dont have pics, i just caught a glimpse of him at an intersection, we sahred a honk of the horns as we passed

HOLY OFF-TOPIC BATMAN!!!!!
Word of advice man, NEVER say anything about street racing on a Fourm or U will get flammed! I personally say hey if thats what u want to do on a vacant road away from traffic and people then hey thats fine. We used to go up by a bunch of warehouses and factories that were closed at night but tickets here are way too steep now. Now thats not saying that two people that race from a light in front of the mall in 5 o'clock traffic is ok.

I like my paint way to much to get a cabon fiber hood. Now If I could get it painted to match the car almost perfect or perfect then i would maybe consider one.

People shouldn't bash street racers. I hope they keep on racing. That way more of them will die in horrible car crashes. This goes out for any of you that street race, I hope you all die and your friends that race too. If I had a family mamber that was killed because of some stupid kids like all of you, I would come to your house and kill you personally. I would would kill you slowly.

my p5 is too slow to street race. -=) i get there slow.. but i look good while im doin it -=)

Man thats harsh. I'll tell my story, Its idiots that cant drive and weave in and out of traffic, and race at 120 mph on the interstate with traffic all over the place. It's people like this that make it look dangerous, and it IS dangerous when you drive that way. But the occasional meet in the middle of the industrial section of town to show whos got who is pretty safe in my opinion. and talking about people on bicyles and s***. Personally if i'm going to race on some deserted road I drive all the way down and back to not only make sure that there are no people around but to make sure there is nothing on the street. Now about stop light racing in the city. Yes, I do this too. But in my town this is how it is. It is a mid sized town and there is one main strip with all the businesses and stuff on it. During the day it is shopping and commuting. But at night the racers come out. there are stop lights spaced out a little less than a quarter mile, down about a 2.5 mile strech. People are out there every night, but on the weekends seriously hundreds of racers are out there riding up and down and drag racing from light to light, all night long. Yes there are wrecks every single night. But they are all at the turning lanes where people do U turns to go back down the strech. Not when the racing is happining. I do have to be a very defensive driver out there because these people drive crazy. I will have to make a video one night and put it up on here. So dont b**** at me please I do agree that racing can be dangerous. But i believe it is more the stupid things people do while around street racing then the racing itself. Any Questions?

P.S sorry I know this is a thread about carbon fiber hoods, so i will talk about that as well. Damn I just thought of how bad ass a CF hood on an Orange MSP would be. I might get one eventually just because i have two small chips in my hood that go straight to the metal (yes i have touch up on them). I would definetly leave the CF Black on any of our colors.

That's my main point. I see nothing wrong with a race in the middle of nowhere LATE AT NIGHT. But when I see people weaving in and out of traffic, I just want to ram them off the road so bad I can taste it. Then when they tumble down the ditch in the middle of the highway, stop while they are gasping for their last breaths, and laugh at them and tell them they deserve it.

So wait, I'm confused...you're saying you are very tolerant of and in fact, like street racers?
