satellite radio ROCKS (Sirius at least)

That's not what you pay for the antenna & tuner. That's the cost of the 1 year subscription. Tuner + antenna are free, and that's all you pay to get 1 year of Sirius. Hope this help. So how much is professional install at CC for Sirius? There's a bestbuy closer but I bet CC and Bestbuy do price match so whatever CC charges is about where Bestbuy charges.

I'm seriously considering Sirius unfortunately they don't play 85% of the music I listen to.:(

What do you listen to???

HEHE I listen 5 % pop and US TOP 40, 5% Progressive & drum and bass, and the last 5% Country, since I lived down South long enough that it is starting to rub on you.

85 % of my listening choice is from Asia, where I'm from. And they don't carry their music so I'm a little hesitant to sign on, although I suggested to Sirius about adding them. Wouldn't it be great to listen Elva, Ayumi, BoA, Jay Chow, and so forth on Sirius?

I'm not sure if it's only for the MSP, but there's offer for other buyers besides MSP to get free stuff, check their website.

we charge $50.99 for install plus $3.99 shopfee (pays for misc. expenses like solder, tape, screws, etc.) and there is no tax on either part.

Well I listen to a lot of underground hardcore stuff! I love gothic and industrial. I probably won't hear very much of those, but I do get to hear music that I normally wouldn't hear on the radio.
For percentage wise this is what I like

50% Industrial....now I am not talking NIN....I am talking 16 volt, Sheep on Drugs, Junkie XL, Kill Switch Klick, etc
35% Metal.....hardcore with a little softness.....Pantera (being at the soft end....to Sepultura....to Morbid Angel
10% Goth....anything from popular goth like Type O Negative to Switchblade Symphony to Fields of Nephlim, Sisters of Mercy etc
5% other....this is anything from 80s New Wave, to 70-80s punk, to maybe even a pop song or two...this also includes regular rock that is radio friendly....like Soft Cell (for 80s), Sex Pistols (for Punk), and Linkin Park (for regular rock)
Even with my preferences not be met by Sirius I still think it is the bomb!
I got the 80s station for nostagia, I got Hard Attack for metal, I got the kids station for my daughter, I got News stations for when I am tired of hearing music (does occasionally happen!) I got other rock stations for when I am feeling pop-y! So I don't think it is bad at all. Plus it was free....a b-day present from the in-laws....all in all I am thrilled!!!

In the day I have heard on there Pantera, Sepultura, Megadeth, Iced Earth, White Zombie (w/ Iggy Pop), Exodus, and a couple of other bands (I can't remember right now....got a head cold or something!!!)

I'm not bashing on Sirius, it's a cool thing. I just need more motivation, although I hear that they're going to broadcast British preimer league games, mmm now that might just be the push I need. Who likes the red devil w/o Beckham? It's me IT's me. I still like him, but now Giggs and co. are kicking arse!!!

I think the $142.45 includes a year of service. The tuner and antenna are free.

Hey, where did you get the antenna AND tuner for free? I went to the Sirius website and the only offer I saw was for a free tuner with purchase of an antenna. That doesnt include any kind of deal for subscription; those are all separate from what I can tell. Can you give me more details? Thanks.

Biochembruin,

read my first post, it gives you the 1800 # to call them and tell them that you are a MSP owner and you want that free antenna and tuner offer with 1 year paid subscription then they mail you the thang and you're set. Hope this help.

I like Sirius, but if you live in a city with lots of overpasses, it gets rather annoying. I cant understand why they dont implement at least a little bit of buffering. To have a song cut out when going 80 under a overpass is lame.

they do use a small amt of buffering, they also use repeaters in big cities. i know- it does get annoying.

Actually they have stopped using the repeaters, but you are right they have a 4 second buffer built in to the units.

As for satellite TV for cars that has been out for about 4 years but it's still pretty expensive, about $2000 for the dish, which bolts on to a roof rack like a luggage container. It's prety slim but it still would look big on a compact car.

My input on Satellite Radio (XM). I have my antenna (new one and small) magnetically attached to the trunk. I love it, and the fact that I can take the receiver out and still get good music. Gotta love electronica (can't get it on the radio in Charleston)

If they do have a 4 second buffer, they arent using it. It probably takes less than a second for me to pass under a overpass and it still cuts out.

It should be more like 15 to 30 secs. Memory is cheap.
