satellite radio ROCKS (Sirius at least)

142.45!! don't do it.

I work at Circuit City and right now you can get the Kenwood KTCSR902 or KTCSR901 for free if you buy a Terk SR20S or Terk SIR3 ($50). This also applies to the Panasonic rf (CR-SRF100) unit or direct link unit (CR-SRT100) as well. Not a bad deal at all.

so is there a DJ on most the channels? like someone who talks or is it just pure music back to back with no talking like "ok this is channel yada yada, thanks for listening, heres so and so song"

Alot of the stations have DJ's and you can call in and request songs as well. Some do just spit out playlists though. I have Xm and Sirius in me and my wifes cars and I like Sirius more.

I just talked to one of their customer rep. They gave me a 1800 # to call and the total cost is 142.45

The # is 1-888-999-4551

And they send u a tuner + antenna. Hope this help. So where do you guys put your tuner and antenna? And what kind of tools are needed? Do I have to disassemble the center console? I'm asking this is b/c I'm away from my tools and I'm living in an apartment away from my garage.

thanks for the helpful post!

Good to know. I don't want to spend too much for this considering I have more than enough of a CD library to keep me entertained.

I'm not saying Sirius isn't worth that because I would pay that if this other deal wasn't going. I am just saying save some money and go to Circuit City.

And I'm saying kick ass. I'm going to circuit city! Thanks for the heads up. Can I install this myself?

It's not hard at all really. You have to be careful with the antennas though. They cannot be kinked really sharply or cut and resoldered together, so be careful with them. If you get the Kenwood KTCSR902 tuner get the Terk SIR3 because they both only have one antenna connection instead of 2 like the KTCSR901 and Terk SR20S.

thanks pdhaudio and jellybean, your help is appreciated. I know jack about car audio and honestly never though it would come up because I'm satisfied with the MSP system. But a good deal on Sirius might be a pleasant upgrade for long trips:)

I am an installer at CC and have done many XM and Sirius installs so what i may say is easy may not be for you. that dosen't mean in any way that i am calling you stupid or incapable of doing it yourself. You may want to look into getting it installed professionaly.

Good looking out. I will take a further look into it and make my judgement at that time. I didn't say I was uncapeable of installs, just didn't know my stuff with stereo equipment so it's just a matter of difficulty. Thanks again!

LOL its SO EASY! it doesnt get much easier. no snipping or wires, find a good place to mount the unit, hook it into head unit. cha ching!

Actually it's more than that, if you get an older tuner (KTCSR901) then there is the changer data cable plus you have to wire power and ground. Also you want to make sure you are careful with the antenna. i have seen people not pay attention or go to quick during an install and ruin those things.

LOL you definitely don't have to worry about me going too quickly. Ask anyone who has ever done any type of install with me. Although I work hard I take my sweet time to make sure everything is just right. Installs that take most people an hour easily take me 2.

I think the $142.45 includes a year of service. The tuner and antenna are free.

That's not what you pay for the antenna & tuner. That's the cost of the 1 year subscription. Tuner + antenna are free, and that's all you pay to get 1 year of Sirius. Hope this help. So how much is professional install at CC for Sirius? There's a bestbuy closer but I bet CC and Bestbuy do price match so whatever CC charges is about where Bestbuy charges.

I'm seriously considering Sirius unfortunately they don't play 85% of the music I listen to.:(

we charge $50.99 for install plus $3.99 shopfee (pays for misc. expenses like solder, tape, screws, etc.) and there is no tax on either part.

What kind of music do you like. I listen to pretty much everything except country and I love Sirius. Here is what I listen to from time to time:

Pop-
1 - US 1
7 - Totally 70's
8 - Big 80's
2 - the Pulse

Rock-
15 - The Rock
20 - Octane
23 - Big Rock

Hip Hop-
40 - hip Hop Nation
44 - Street Beat
43 - Back Spin

R&B-
50 - Hot Jamz
51 - Heart & Soul

Dance-
60 - House Party
62 - The Rave
63 - Planet Dance
64 - The Vortex
66 - The Beat

Variety-
96 - Kids Stuff (when my daughter is in the car)
98 - Soundscapes

News-
105 Fox News

Sports-
120 - ESPN Radio

Entertainment-
130 - Radio Disney (once again for my daughter)
134 - Court TV
136- E! Entertainment
147 - Sirius Comedy (although it's not as good as XM's comedy)
