Hey Phill,

Will there be an option to have the complete system, but without a muffler section for those who prefer certain mufflers?

P.S. Thanks for the help and intrest in our cars. Best news to hit our forums in months.
I too wanted to get my own HKS CF-Ti "pimp" exhaust for this system. But after thinking about it more and calling Jeff and Phill at GHL, I realized that these guys know what they are doing and really stand behind their products.
They said that this muffler is based on the same technology on their award-winning Porsche racecar. If its good enough for a Porsche, I think I can handle it on my MSP.
Also, I don't know what you are looking for in sound, but I can't stand highway drone. Softball sized mufflers are fine from stoplight to stoplight, but as far as the highway and long trips are concerned I prefer to hear my music/passengers. I figure at this price I should trust their judgement and if I disagree, I can always purchase a new muffler at a later date.

Well put. I think these guys really know what they're doing aswell. My father owns a Porche and has heard many compliments on their products amazing quality. They are a good company and I think you really should think twice before asking them to alter their hardwork. My two cents.

the muffler has a hell of alot to do with the sound if thats what we are refering to?

Sound / partially flow. As to me asking for a bit of elaboration on why it doesn't matter.

So looking at the pic you would think the spipe would fit the cs exhaust with no problems?

I think it could be made to fit. I seriously doubt you'll pull it off without any cutting though.

i'm positive it will need cuting and it will need a new flange. Before this exhaust system I had a corksport system on the car.

So, with just the S-pipe, and their (hopefully) provided cat section or no cat section (according to the diagram), you can hook those two pieces directly up to the stock exhaust?

Thats what it looks like, but WHY? Why not pay the extra couple of bucks and not bottleneck your exhaust system? Your gains would suffer from the bottleneck and for a little bit more cash that can easily be prevented. Just my thoughts you might have your reasons. ;)

heh, only reason is if I can't find that "couple xtra bucks" just yet

but i agree with you, I'm just learning 'bout this system

The CS exhaust will need cutting and welding to mate it to the GHL Downpipe. The GHL exhaust's flange for the catback portion isn't neccesarly in the same location as the stock flange. Basiclly, that diamgram shows you what piece or pieces a certain system has, and where the flanges are. Just because GHL's system has a flange in the general area before the curve around the gas tank, doesn't mean it allows other catbacks to bolt up to it though. The mix and match game is getting way too complicated.

Final answer. This Downpipe (s and j bends) will not Bolt up to any exhaust other than the GHL turboback. It can be moddified to fit one though. proper cutting and welding will be required.

The best advice is to start saving up your pennies and sell whatever exhaust setup you may have right now and jump on this deal. I spent approx $925 alone with shipping for my DP and catback, and now, for roughly $70 more than I spent already, I could possibly have everything I need from the turbo-back in 3" piping. I say just get the whole setup. Also, I'd like to see some dyno numbers, just to see if iON's exhaust is really that much different, since their numbers were published in Turbo Mag.

(mswerd) I totally agree 100%.

How far is the mounting location from the stock location of the J-pipe? Is it longer or shorter. The CS exhaust mounts directly up to the J-pipe (I wouldn't put a 3" DP on a 2.4" exhaust anyway. I am sticking with my Perrin exhaust because I like the muffler better and we don't have emmissions here in Idaho:) I do think everyone with emissions should jump on this exhaust. Great price.

I've never gotten all the way up there, but is it pretty easy to unbolt the spipe from the turbo? Would I have to take this to a muffler shop to install, or could I do it in the drive way with ramps?

Also, when do you think we could get some dyno charts up that compares the gains from a stock setup?

The best answer to the dyno question is time. I can get Ingrexco's car on the dyno but it will only reflect post exhaust installation with no baseline to go off of.

The S pipe is the most difficult part of the installation, if you are confident in your abailities you will be able to install this. I do not recomend this being your first venture into DIY installations. Everything else is very straight forward.
