RX-Club of Houston June Meeting - 06/03/2008

Greetings everyone,

If you haven't had a chance to enjoy the warmth of a Houston evening come out and join us for the June meeting. As always our meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month. This month we are headed back to the 'bird. Freebird's of course so bring your appetite or just come out and cheer on Chuck "the RX-7 Nut" as he tries to kill another Monster!

Hopefully the weather will be clear and sunny and sunset isn't until 8:19 PM so this will be one of the ideal meets for photogs. I'm going to and see if there are any issues with parking across the street at the post office for this meet! If so get ready to shine up your ride and show it off!

As always we welcome all Mazda owners so bring out those other Mazda sportscars.

Where: Freebird's Burritos - Greenbriar and Shepherd @ US59
When: Parking lot at 6 PM, dinner to follow after 7 PM.

Pics from our last meeting: 20+ cars - http://www.mazdasportscarstampede.com/events/2008/050608/

For those of you who didn't make it out. We ended up the night with 15+ cars.

3 - RX-8's
4 - RX-7's
2 - MX-5's
1 - MS3
4 - 6's

...a couple others showed up in different stuff and AE86, a bike and a gang of the SE guys came in a Suburban together. About 25 people in all. Next month's meeting is going to be held of the North Loop at Gabby's. Always a great meeting there. For those of you thinking of karting, I've learned from some of the hardcore karting guys that the Track21 facility has gone steeply downhill in the last few months. We are thinking of doing a karting day down at MSR Houston instead. The cost will be higher, but it's a real course with fresh (and maintained) karts.

Concession Karts – CRG Spit Fire
One 15-minute session: $30
Four 15-minute sessions: $100

Competition Karts – CRG Dark Rider DD2
One 15-minute session: $65
Four 15-minute sessions: $250

I snapped this pic of one of the S-turns before they painted and finished the track, but it gives you an idea of what the surface is like out there.
