Rubber flecks?

2008.5 owned the car 3 days and im getting these black flecks coming from the front wheels all the way down the side of the car. Is the rubber from the new tires? It wipes off pretty easy. WIll it go away? and why aren't there flap to cathc stuff like that behind the tires.

There are flaps in front of the tires what are they for? Aerodynamics?

i had that when i first got my car, it was the tire shine spray thing they put.
even now when i wash my car and use the meguiars tire gel, it does the same thing for a day or two after the wash.

Yeah whenever I go to this auto car wash place with tire shine...it drenches the tires in tire shine and it always gets all down the side of the car...so ghey lol. I just don't get that option anymore and go home and put the shine on...or just wash the car at home period

its called tire sling.

the best way to stop it from slinging is to not apply as much, or really let the stuff dry before you drive the car.

i use megs hot shine tire gel on my car, and i apply one thin coat per tire. and i have no slinging issues whatsoever. another thing you can do, is after you apply it, and let it sit, wipe the tire down with a terry cloth. this will give the tire a more matte natural look, rather than a greasy gross look. by wiping it down you wont have any slinging issues either

ive head the tire sling has to do with using oil based tire shine. i cant remember what brands dont do it ill have to ask my neighbor again. she shows her car competitivly. the flabs on the front of the tire are aerodynamic.

majority of OTC products are petroleum based, which if you apply to much of will sling

the best ive found that gives a new tire look is a vinyl/rubber protectant called megs natural shine. Mothers protectant does the same thing. both are decent over the counter products that do a pretty good job of making the tires look good.
