My sister has a Type-S and I drive it all the time. It's a fantastic car, a lot 'nicer' than the MSP as far as the interior goes and overall refinement of the car. The 6 speed is the sweetest stick I've ever driven! and the engine is buttery smooth compared to the MSP engine. There are tons of mods you can do to the RSX, the easiest power mod being the Hondata ECU flash, which lowers the VTEC switchover and raises the redline, adding a lot more usable power and raising the grant total to something like 220 horses. So don't let people tell you that MSP will be faster. It's not necessarily true... If you were to put a turbo kit on a RSX you'd probably want an LSD, which is an expensive add on...
Handling is another story, stock vs. stock, the RSX can't touch an MSP, it frustrates my sister every time we both autocross and I kick her ass. You will have get new springs/shocks/bars/wheels/tires if you even want a chance, and that stuff isn't cheap to buy, or install. Since you did mention that you intend to autocross, keep that strongly in mind. Oh yeah,the LSD comes in really handy when accelerating out of a turn...
With all that being said, I love my MSP, but wish it had some of the niceties of the RSX; the nice lateral support of the seats, sunroof, cruise control, in dash 6 disc changer... But then again I've got an extra 3 grand in my pocket, so maybe I'll go buy some better front seats, then I'll still have an extra 2 grand in my pocket.
