RPMs when idle

Where does your tach needle stay? Mine varies for some reason.. I'm kinda worried. A few times when I've first started it up in the coldish weather that's coming through here, it's gone way down, makin' the car rattle a bit like it was gonna stall.. but then it'd recover and float a little under 1000.. but I think it used to go a little bit over 1000.. maybe it's got something to do with the CAI? Argg.. maybe I'm just paranoid and forgetful and it never really went over 1000 when idling.. but damnit I want to make sure my MP3's okay.

Also, out on the highway and over 70 MPH or so, my car seems to shake a lot.. maybe it's just the sensitive suspension letting me know where every imperfection in the road is, but.. it seems like it's more than that.

Once again.. I figure I'm better off safe than sorry.. and I wanna know what I should do.. x_X

the vibration over 65 should be caused by wheel & tire balance. if you haven't rotated your tires yet make sure to have them balanced when you have it done (at every oil change!) our suspension is very sensitive so even minor out of balance problems will cause vibration!

guruuu!!!

Oh, one more thing, could any of this be from taking it past redline too much..? My mom was being really (here are a whole lot of words that have been scribbled over with a black marker) and she took my car nearly 1000 RPMs past redline like, three times. I know she hit cutoff at least once. But.. yeah.. I hope that's not a contributing thing..

And it shouldn't be wheel and tire balance.. well.. maybe it is.. with my autocrossing and all.. kuso, maybe I'd better look into getting an extra set of tires specifically for racing X_x;;

We finally got some cold weather here in Alabama and my car is doing the same thing as start up when it's cold. (50 degrees is cold for us) We aren't as thick blooded as all of you northerners.haha. Mine also does it a little when I get to a stop light. But the normal idle range is about 600 to 800 rpm. But I'm still not sure about the car choking like that. Maybe it isn't used to the cold yet? And it's really humid after that cold front came through. That could be it, but I don't know.

the redlining might have been the cause of your low idle...i did that once...didnt **** up anything but i sure as hell wont do it again

We can take a look at it when I get home. Hell if anything is ****** up, you can get all of your internals redone (mom paying since she caused it) and your car can be set up for that turbo in the future!
