Rosen aftermarket head unit

did you install or buy this?

i had bought a really decent jvc last week the KW-NT3HD but when i took it to the installer i was told i would lose the clock/info and this model wasnt compatible with the steering wheel phone controls. i was told that kenwood units would use the steering wheel controls but would still lose the other clock/info buttons.

No, I haven't. I was just checking to see if anyone else had any experience with it. I share your concern over the info button. This one appears to have that. Also, I want the steering wheel controls for both my radio and bluetooth to continue to work. There are some kits out there to keep your steering wheel controls for various aftermarket radios, but not the info. button until I saw this one.

Yes I am the unhappy customer... (http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?123776117-Aftermarket-in-dash-Nav-LCD-touchscreen&p=5519751&viewfull=1#post5519751)

Rosen from Crutchfield has exactly the same unit as Caska... except you pay $700 more BUT you can return it with full refund. With Crutchfield, you don't even need to pay return shipping I think...

The above picture shows you the back of Caska (Rosen). Only one factory harness goes into the Caska. All 7 slots on the left require splicing. Cutting factory wires is must because this unit is not plug-n-play. Despite all the quality issue I had to deal with the Caska manufacture, I just don't see the benefit to purchase this unit.

However, if your CX-9 is running out of warranty and without the oem gadgets like my loaded GT, it might be worth to try this unit. It does provide you the functional INFO and steering wheel control buttons.

I see the issue that you had. Not to second guess you, but I wonder if there is an extra wiring harness that they did not provide. It seems like the Rosen company deals with custom install shops. I wouldn't think they would have to splice it in, especially don"t see Crutchfield selling it if thats the case. So I wonder if Caska makes the hardware and someone else like Rosen makes the harnesses. You may want to give a call around to the install shops and see if you could buy a harness from them. May be a good idea to call Crutchfield and see if they can sell it to you. I do appreciate you taking the shot at the Caska unit, I think we all were hoping your install would go well.

I am done with Caska (Rosen) unit... haha if you read my post. I returned that pos for my own sake. Anyway, if you ever think about buying it from Crutchfield yes make sure you talk to their tech very thoroughly... Good luck.

I bought the pioneer avic -120bt and very happy with it and it only cost 899 after 100 mail in rebate and its far more advance than the rosen

I had one installed in my 2011 CX 9. So far no problems and I love it. You do lose your gas milage info, but you do see the clock and your other info like the Radio, Ipod and Satellite, etc.......

I installed the Caska GPS Navigation system in my 2010 Mazda CX9 Sport that didn't have the Bose OEM unit. I've installe dit and everthying works except a couple of issues -- if anyone can help me figure out!!
1. The clock on the uppper display on the car is not the same as the clock on the Caska module. I cannot get the clock on the car to change or synchronise it to the clock on the Caska unit. This will epsecially be a problem when during daylight savings time switches.

2. Steering wheel connections work except for the bluetooth phone controls. The steering controls for mode, channel up/down. volume up/dwn al work but not bluetooth phone answer and end work.

Thanks

Hello,

For mother's day, I installed similar GPS unit from CA seller but made in China unit.

http://cgi.ebay.com/07-11-MAZDA-CX-...=0&customid=link&campid=&toolid=20001&mkevt=1

(I have no connection to this seller)

I had to replace the original unit with repalcement as the original unit could not find the GPS device.
Since seller is based on California, replacement unit came quick.

Standard all in one unit.
GPS (IGo8), DVD, all media player, SD, USB, Rear Camera connection, etc.

Overall, I am happy. (actually my wife) and looks factory.
Sorry for the low quality phone camera picture.

Thanks

Does the unit use the Factory wiring harness?
Do you still have all the functionality of the upper display? Time MPG..
Do you have steering wheel control?

I got these answers in PM from him.

Does use the factory harness
No control of upper display.
Steering wheel controls all work except the Bluetooth buttons.
