I don't know if anyone already posted this, but has anyone uninstalled the roof rails and either dipped or paint them another color? I would like to dip mine in satin black to match my emblems and wheels, but would like to see how it looks first. any suggestions?

looks great! nice job. and yes i think that the underneath part of the rails is what stops me from doing this. but i will most likely just detach them and do it, it actually looks better than what i expected it to look, thanks for the pics!(bowdown)
Why not just remove the side rails and paint them the proper way? It's only 8 bolts holding them on, 4 on each side. Here is the link to the roof rail installation. Looks like you just have to pop the covers off and undo the bolts and the rails should come off.

Thanks for the compliments. Yes it is the matte black. I didn't take them off because it was a last minute decision, i'm sure its easier to do with them off. We had done all the emblems then decided to do the rails. No plasti dip over spray anywhere. We went over board with the plastic sheeting and covered the entire car.
so I tried doing this on Saturday, tried every socket wrench I had to take out the hex bolts and everything was either too big or too small. it the PDF on how to put on the rails it states to use a 10mm socket wrench which I tried and I was too small im sure im not blind and I did see 10mm, but anywho has anyone taken them off and what actual size wrench is it.

It's 10mm unless whoever installed didn't use the supplied bolts
