so my girlfriend borrows my car this morning to goto work, she returns to tell me a big rock had kissed my windshield....well as of now, i dunno whether to be pissed or sympathetic. right now, im pretty pissed (fight)...its a good sized chunk plus cracked on each side. about the size of a dime id figure. im just venting, but thats what i get for letting someone else use my car for their own business purpose. todays gonna be awesome....i can feel it.

Just call your insurance company up and file a windshield comprehensive claim. They will put you in touch with a repair facility and then you can have it replaced by a mobile glass tech. No deductible applies on a private passenger type vehicle here in Florida, regardless of the insurance company involved.

That sucks. You can't really blame her but at the same time you have to question if the same thing would happen if you were behind the wheel. It's a messed up way to think but when you go so long with not incidents and then something like this happens it's like WTF.

My GF has been wanting to drive my car and i've been pretty solid against it. But it's only a matter of time...

Like BOOSTR said, it'll be a free replacement since you're in FL.

Yep, complete replacement by your insurance with no out-of-pocket expenses. It's been a while, but the one on my Chevy truck had to remain taped down overnight while the adhesive set.

My understanding is that rocks completely avoid hitting cars while the rightful owner is driving. Google it, I promise.

Geesh, its a windshield, wear and tear, that s*** happens. Get it replaced and move on. No sense being mad at her, not like she could avoid it. Thats your girlfriend. No offense to anyone but we drive 22k economy cars, not Lambos or Porsches... You dont want the most important person in your life (barring kids) to drive your car? That is strange to me.

insurance company wont replace it, they just want to "fix" it. which looks like s***. happened in my ford ranger before. i told them nope i want a replacement....so they are supossed to call me back tomorrow i guess =/

Assuming they know how to drive it. My GF has some experience driving a standard but not enough for me to let her take the car out on her own. I didn't buy a '22k' (25k) just to let the clutch fry. It's not a Lambo but it's expensive enough for me to want to keep in good condition.

I'm slowly coming around to letting her drive it. Slowly...

That's interesting. I know they can fix chips, but I would think a crack means finito for the windshield.

This is why, if the crack/chip is smaller than a dollar bill, you allegedly give it a good smack ith your fist before the insurance or glass company see it. Make sure it gets replaced. Allegedly. (gossip)

And +eleventybillion on "w00t for zero deductible windshield replacement."
