Road Tar Build Up

I drive a White P5 so road tar or any other mess shows.
I was washing my car the other day and found out I had a lot of road tar or orange little dots on the back bumper. I knew it was there when I had the car in the beginning, but now it really really starting to build up.
After I wash my car, every surface on my car is smooth except the back bumper.
I bought a can of those Bug and Road Tar remover and nothing happen. Still stuck on.
I had a white accord before and after 10 years, the road tar on the back bumper transformed into another layer. (doh)
I was going to buy one of those clay bars, but the guy there told me clay bar is for cars that are old and needs refinishing.

Question of the day: What can I do to get rid of those spots and orange dots ?? (bj)

first off the clay bar is not for old cars, it's actually really good for newer cars because it removes the contaminates in the paint that washing or waxing wont remove but its not as harsh as a clear coat scrub. Now for the road tar use some mineral spirits diluted in water, maybe a 20/80 mix, just enough water so that the spirits aren't as harsh. Another trick you might wanna try is to use some spray window cleaner on them, like "Invisible glass" or the cheap stuff from the autoparts store, long as it has alchol in it. spray it on let it sit for a few seconds, them scrub like hell.

Clay bars are designed to remove overspray after bodywork has been done to your car. You can use it to remove contaminants but you have to be very carefull or you will do more harm than good. To remove tar the best stuff to use is WD40, it also works well for bug guts.

yeah you have to use it with a lubricant, like "quick detail" sprays and items like that. I used to use it on one of the miatas I had before glazing and waxing. Stuff worked great as long as you didnt use one side of the bar too long.

I've been using 3M Adhesive, Tar & Wax remover for a few years now and I still haven't run into something it hasn't removed.

That looks like it'll work.
And thanks for all the tip and advice guys. I'll give it a try and see how it goes.

You can also try a little gasoline on a rag to remove just about anything.

Gasoline on my paint!!!?!?! Yeah - I know - don't worry about it - as long as you just use a little bit, throw some water on the area afterward, and wax the car (or the area) when you're done, you'll be fine - it won't damage anything.

Oh - and ANY of the products that will take tar and bugs and crap off your car will also strip the wax. So be sure to re-do the wax when you're done.
