Rim Color Question

I have a black 08.5 speed 3 and I'm thinking about painting my stock rims. I want to go with ether black or gun metal/graphite color. Thoughts or suggestions?

I would say gunmetal, but don't paint the lip. I find that really dark rims just blend into the tire, I think it looks better to have a lighter coloured lip to show distinction from the tire and the rim.

check out the apearance section. someone has a tru red with stock black rims and graphite ms6 rims. the graphite looks way nice on the true red.

I've never been a fan of black rims. Can't see the design of the wheel at all - might as well just run steelies.

I'd go with graphite/gunmetal.

i totally agree derspi.

i hate black wheels. and hate blacked out cars. hate white on black or black on white.

white on white or black on black

my vote is for Hyperblack or blackonyx

what?
i dont understand you hate black on black but vote for black wheels on a black car?

OP:
i too have a BM 08.5 and have been thinking of doing black wheels for a while. "murdered" out cars seem a little over done though. ive been thinking of doing a dart titanium/gunmetal color for a while. i think that would look cool. it seems like it would darken the wheel a bit, but still allow the wheel to be seen. it might also hide brake dust better.

no. i 1 uped derspi for not liking black wheels. i dont like them either

Thanks for all the replies, I'm probably going to go with gunmetal or dark gray/graphite. I've been looking at other black cars with wheels that color and I'm really liking it. When I get it done I'll post some pics.

new, lighter rims ftw. **** painting stockers.

New rims are pretty costly, I can have mine panted for 100 dollars a rim. If I found some new rims that were about $150-180 that caught my eye I may consider just getting new ones. I saw some Kazeras at tire rack that looked pretty good and were within that price range. But I don't know anything about rims or their manufactures so I would rather pant the stockers instead of buying cheep junk rims. That's not to say that Kazera makes cheep rims, I don't know if they do or not.

if you were to get a rim that had enough weight difference to actually make any sort of difference youd be spending at least 100 more a rim for a new light weight.
