bounced off the rev limiter today...doing a little burnout...didnt know i reached redline until i was already there...hit the rev limiter right as i let off the gas....hope i didnt break anything......first time too. :confused:
 
Dont worry man, it's ok. Bouncing off the rev limiter everyonce and a while, just don't make it a habit.
 
What's the rev limitier...is that just the highest RPM they'll let you go? What RPM is our car limited to before it kicks in?
 
Once you hit the revlimiter the ECU cuts the fuel to the motor, which is not a good thing at all. If you hit revlimiter and your engine is spinning at 7000rpms you will run extremely lean. I'm thinking that when our cars hit the revlimiter the ECU cuts both the fuel and the ignition. I'm hoping that's what it does. :)
 
Dunno about stock, but most rev limiters simply cut the ignition from certain cylinders in sequence.
