Resuming Playback with 2014 CX-5 GT Tech Stereo and other issues

Thread originally started in reference to the USB resuming playback. I think the past posts about the TSB now being available is for the SMS and iPhone playback issues, and not about the USB. Is that correct?
Thread is now all jumbled so don't want to attempt to go through the pages and assume incorrectly.

I'm really hoping they fixed the USB resuming playback issues.

I took my car in today to get it serviced and mentioned the TSB that had been mentioned upthread. It is supposed to correct the resuming issue as well although I haven't gotten a chance to test it yet. The SMS has actually been working correctly on my car for the last few months and I don't have and iPhone so I can't help you there.

Just to give a quick update, I've tested the new Bluetooth module in my cx-5 and it has fixed the USB resuming issue. After turning off the car and leaving it alone for a couple of hours when I got back in and started it up it picked up right where it left off, in the middle of a playlist that I had been playing before. It also seamlessly connected to my phone and downloaded 15 text messages right away, so that is working fine. It also seem to take very little time to get the USB going once I started the car, probably under 10 seconds or so.

So time to start making trips to dealers to see if they will replace the bluetooth module...

They replaced the bluetooth module on mine, but, didn't resolve the issue, it still worked for a couple weeks, then stopped working again, until I unpaired both car and phone, power both off, power both back on, then repair, then it's good for another couple weeks.

Well, that is great news. Do you have an iPhone? I would love to be able to see messages on the screen or have them read to me.

No iPhone I'm afraid, I'm using a Galaxy S4. The text message feature was working on my car before the bluetooth module got swapped so I'm not sure it made a difference in that regard, but it definitely did fix the USB resuming issue and startup time so hopefully it will continue to work and not crap out after a few weeks.

Are you talking about the USB resuming issue on your car started crapping out after a while or only your phone's bluetooth connection? I've never had an issue with my phone and it seems like it would be weird to have to unpair and repair my phone to fix a problem with the USB.

My issue is, it will download new messages SMS and email, but, it won't speak them, or show the details. When first paired thru bluetooth, it will work for a couple weeks, then stops working. Downloads the messages, but, when you try to display the detail, or have it speak the text or email, that part stops working. It keeps the bluetooth, for phone calls, pandora, etc, that seems fine.

Ok fellow canadians! This fix is available to cars in canada now,as I was told by the rep from mazda handsfree. They knew exactly what i was talking about and told it will be a new module with new software ( he said 7.5 or something) flashed into it. I was told to book an appointment with dealer and let them call mazda handsfree for any questions about it. With dealer it will be a two step process, first visit to get the car checked out to order the BT module(could have been avoided as its a known issue, but they have rules too, I guess) then get the BT swapped on next visit, which will take about 20 minutes.

I have my appointnment on 19th. Will update with outcome.

Good luck. It took the Mazda folks about 20 minutes to swap out the Bluetooth module on my car and it's made such a big difference when playing music off of the USB.

Got this TSB worked today at my local dealer. So far it seems to fix the resume play issue and long startup time of USB play. It still takes quite a while (6-8 minutes) to load all song, artist, album and playlist info from my 80gb iPod, but it does start playing where I left off within 30 or so seconds. I can live with these results! It's much better than before the fix.

With this thread being so long and different people talking about USB resume, BT and ipod, etc, do you mind telling me what the TSB # for the USB RESUME issue is? That's the only one I am concerned about. Thanks! Your dealer is aware of this TSB as soon as you mentioned it?

09-008/15. I was the first to ask about this TSB at this dealer. They were happily surprised to find out about it.

Ok, so I took my car to dealership and asked about the TSB. they said they ordered the part and will be here in few days. then the tech told me it wont fix the usb resume issue. he told that's how it is designed. thanks to this wonderful forum, when i checked the report form, found that they ordered the wrong module from last year for screen graying out. i told them the new TSB and even the part number and showed it on our forum. the tech wanted to be an a*****e and said he couldnt find that one for my cars VIN.

long story short, I called mazda hands free, they knew the issue and they took dealership phone number from me. 15 minutes later, dealership calls back saying that they ordered the actual part for TSB 09-008/15. it wasnt a fun visit, but at least I am getting the TSB done.

PS: Dealership kindly reminded me about a survey to follow and requested to leave a very positive feedback

I got my infotainment update today with the replacement bluetooth and the new software and I am happy to report it is now fixed. It takes about 30 seconds to play but will resume at the last song and it does not play the same song every time it starts so no more 00silence.mp3 or 10,000 manics!

Just wanted to say that I had the update and it is working for me as well. I started this thread over two years ago when I took delivery of my 2014 GT in Jan. of 2013 - it took a long time for Mazda to implement the fix. I had actually been enjoying resuming USB with the AUDIO2 power modification for a several weeks now, but this is better.
