Resuming Playback with 2014 CX-5 GT Tech Stereo and other issues

For what it's worth a few days ago my phone rang, I was working outside, so my mom who was visiting answered the phone. She apparently thought it was someone calling about my old car, so she told them I didn't have it anymore. Turns out she said it was someone from Mazda calling about the head unit issue I had reported with my car. Unfortunately I couldn't find the number in my call log, or figure out what they were calling to tell me. The fact that I submitted the issue 2 months ago seems interesting that they would call me now though. Hopefully this means a fix is on the horizon.

I wondered if you had any more specific dates. I realize you are in Europe, but a week ago Mazda NorAm Fleet Sales announced the revised 6 would start production the middle of Dec 2013 and the revised CX-5 would start production the beginning of Jan 2014. They're expecting to deliver the revised models about six weeks after the start of production.

I do not mean the "revised" CX-5 coming with power seats and red stitching. I think these are already being manufactured and it is possible to order with delivery marked for January. What I mean is real facelift which should come later that year.

The date expectations varies. I have questioned a Mazda CEO for two European countries and he told me it should be available for ordering in the middle of 2014, delivered few months later. They also say first half of 2014 (introduction) on the page linked below. I have just found the article and it also confirms the original speculation about Mazda updating the whole system with the facelift.

The infotainment and touch screen used in the Mazda3 are also expected to be used in the CX-5 when the update arrives in the first half of 2014.

It's been on there for at least 6 months. I found it when I went looking for info after buying the CX-5.

Sorry. The dates are the 2015 model year dates (facelift/interior/infotainment revisions). Per Mazda Fleet, the 2015 CX-5 should reach the U.S. the middle/end of February.

Thanks. If it was relatively new, that might mean Mazda was closer to a cure. Now, it pretty much means that Mazda has been aware of the issue for many months (without any news).

Just came across this USB- mp3 walkman from sony.It has an USB end which can be used for charging and file transfer. Sony claims if it is charged for three minutes it can play music for 90 minutes.
I am curious if it work on the CX-5 and resume playback from where I stopped?

Technologically advanced brains can throw some light on this..

if you control it from the sony unit and have it plugged into the aux port

in the usb port, it will either not work at all, or it will appear just like any other usb storage

Hello. I am new to this forum and was considering getting a CX-5 Touring in the next few days.

I've spent some time reading through this topic but I am somewhat confused. Can someone summarize if there is a definitive, consistent issue? I know the entertainment system seems unimportant for a $25K car but audio playback is SUPER important to me.

I have an iPhone 5. I EXCLUSIVELY listen to it in my old car now. No radio. No CD. No USB. Just the iPhone. I primarily listen to podcasts through the Downcast app and some music with the native app and Rdio.

What problems will I face with the CX-5 Touring? Will audio not resume where left off using both Bluetooth or USB cable? No playlists?

Thanks!

Bluetooth will resume. USB will not.

Just my opinion, but if I were buying this car again, I would buy the Sport trim and use a small portion of the several thousand I saved to install a proper double-din receiver with satnav and backup camera. Ask yourself if you really need the blind spot monitoring, premium cloth seating, and fog lights.

That's really disappointing to hear. Why does there always have to be SOMETHING? Puts a damper on this whole thing.

I have been using AUX with my IPhone in my old car for 4 years and it works great. I was excited to try the Bluetooth in my new base touring but it keeps pausing my music and shuffling. I do not want it to shuffle! Not sure if I'm hitting a button on the steering wheel that changes or pauses. Have not tried USB cable. Time to go look at the manual. Any suggestions on what I'm doing or should do?

The only way I found the BT to play properly is to actually select the album on my phone and play it that way. This whole thing with the head unit not doing what I want put a damper on my zoom zoom experience. Customer support was however great in responding to my inquiries - guess some things cannot be fixed easily.

I am however pleased it does read the MP3 CD's.... But geezzzzzz Mazda, you claim to be all Zoom Zoom and up with the latest trends.... NOT!! And there is not one after market system 100% compatible nor is there an upgrade to a 7 inch screen device that have been out for at least 3 years (premium device, add some price to the sale of the car and have happy customers. By the way... their customer support here in Canada is actually pretty decent to deal with.

Still no fix:

Hello,
I have a 2014 Mazda CX5 - GT and wondering if Maxda has released a fix yet for the USB plugin not auto resuming when the car is turned on. It's extremely annoying to listen to the same song over and over when the car is started.
The dealer couldn't provide any assistance with this.
Thank you,

This is the first time I've actually seen a reply acknowledging the problem and stating that a fix was in the works, although I did get an update to the change.org petition stating something similar. I'm slightly more optimistic, but still not holding my breath...
