Requesting a Tune for the Standback.

:
Mazda, Speed6
I have test pipe, CPE- cat back, BOV, Cold air intake. Anyone have a tune for this I can build off of and possibly share back and forth?

i do....but i paid about $600 for a dyno and road tune and am not real thrilled to just give it out. the tune was worth 35 HP and 35 torque or so.

I'm with Musom - if he did it on his own then I can see sharing it gratis, but paying $600 is a lot of coin to be sharing.

Don't post & be an ass if you're not willing to share your tune. Wow...

agreed. 'well i have a fix for you(nana), but no you can't have it (gun)'

kinda gay, thats the point of having the same piggybacks. swap maps back and forth. anyway to each their own, i hope karma kicks some ass down the road

Having been there I spent $600 on a dyno myself and I don't know if I'd just "give" out my map...

i think it should be a community based thing for everyone who has the piggyback, thats all. that way no matter what combination of mods you have, and no matter what brand of mod you chose to go with. you could get a tuned map for your car.

but i haven't spent any money on a dyno...let alone the standback, so i have no room to talk

I agree the community/sharing arguement, but I also feel for the guys that spent soooo much money on their tune, while some other guy gets it for nothing. How bout you charge people like 50 bucks to share your map??(scratch) I dunno, I might get yelled at here....

well it wont be a perfect tune anyway. as each car runs different to begin with. and also if you were to share a map with someone,

lets say MUSOM was gonna share one with me for example (assuming i had all his sickly mods lol), i would still need to do a bunch of road tuning myself. cuz i'm at around 5,000 ft above sea level, and he is about 500 ft above sea level. it wouldn't be the same at all, nowhere near a perfect tune. just a better baseline

so i still don't think its cool to charge someone to share.

I wouldn't expect much from a tune I got mailed to me anyways.......I don't think anyone can really tune your car over the phone?

Even though it won't work 100% it's a good starting point, but still that starting point cost someone $600. I wouldn't give my map away. I'd sell it for like $50 but I'm also a cheap prick lol! :D

I have to agree with MUSOM. Selling a tune you did yourself is one thing (a butt-dyno). But asking for a free professional tune (especially at $600) is just greedy. Plus, you would have to get it professionally tuned anyway for your mods and sea-level, and local gas.

Now, what you could do is ask what parameters he has, like what the a/f ratios are, and what kind of spark advance/retard (I'm sorry. Its "spark challenged", not spark-retard) he has, then do your own tuning. Or suck it up, and get some dyno time.

Dont be greedy.

$600 seems mighty expensive.

It shouldn't take more then 1 to 1.5 hours. It's not that hard to tune the Speed6.

$330 for 1 1/2 hours of AWD dyno tune sounds reasonable.

Vinnie, PM me your email and I'll send you mine.

It's funny how so many talk s*** about asking for tunes. I should have kept a list of all of those begging for my tune a few months ago.

$600 for dyno time plus tuning labor is about right.

Everyone wants a freebie. That person is inferring they might be willing to share his map for a fee. You can either pay or you don't.
Let's all have one person pay for something, so we all can leach off him for free. Not very fair to the person paying, is it?

If you don't know what you are doing it is better to pay someone to tune it for you, rather than try to get someone's map and tune around it and screw something up.

If you know how many hours are spent actually setting up a map to run on certain EMS systems, you will understand why people do not want to give out maps for free. R&D time isn't free. You have to have pay to play.

FYI, your car's EFI system has a sensor for barometric pressure correction for elevation....

Sam said it best. I spent about 40 or so hours getting my map setup, and giving it away would be all for nought. I don't even know that I'd sell it. It's wierd, I'm not really a prick, but I just didn't understand how much work was involved until I actually spent the time and money on it.

we all have our different opinions. My tuner guy may have a different view than yours. I just wanted a couple of tunes to check out what is common and what people did differently. Then based off of that make my own. and then take it to the dyno where I get charged 125$ an hour for dyno and tuning together. If you do not want to share knowledge thats all fine. You paid good money for yours. I will pay good money for mine. I was going to share it with whomever. I will share it with certain people that help me out. <shrug>

Again $600 is WAY too much you are getting ripped off, especially if it's a Speed6.

If it takes more then 2 hours then that person is an incompetent fool.

Mine was done on a Dynapack, in just over an hour. And this was the first time the tuner (Shawn Church) ever seen the CP-E tuner, let alone tune a Speed6.

In any case, if you don't want to be part of the group and share, that's fine. But don't make up BS excuses.
